No, PTV is largely unaffected by max lift. The valve events themselves determine PTV. A cam with a lot of overlap will need PTV checked. These gwatney cams are mild in duration, but just noticed they have pretty aggressive max lift which can prematurely wear out the valve stem tips. The...
I think I got a winner on the oil to make my cold starts sound less like my engine is completely broken.
Swapped in Castrol Magnatec synthetic. The marketing hype is basically it will cling to your parts better and give you better cold start protection. I have circulated it through about 150...
I can stall my zl1 verter to 2300 rpms. Stock was like 1500. It drives nice. Good option if youre already in there. They are discontinued i believe though. I had a tough time finding a new one.
After watching a youtube video of a 3200 circle D stall, I knew it wasnt for me.
This. I have to stop myself weekly from slapping a blower on. Will be cheaper in the long run to just have a faster car. B
I did a 6.2 swap, headers and vvt cam. Goes mid 5's 0-60 prob runs mid 13s in 1/4. Its a 6k lb vehicle, to go much faster than that with any reliability youre gonna pay.
Can you post some pics? Would be helpful for others looking to do it. I don't want to be a scaremonger lol.

You can bend the lines, but I don't like that idea.
If I were to do it, I'd reroute the lines or not do it at all, but that's just me. I am sure there are those out there who have bent the line and gotten away with it.
No idea the average. I found a 50k one shipped to my house for 3500 total. I spent around another 1000 on it with cam, lifters, gaskets. Of course scope creep sets in and I added stuff like a small converter and ed the heads. Its real fun to drive though.
I was about to go down this route with my 5 3. It looks easy enough with the kits out there. Then you read stories about people nearly catching their ac lines on fire from the heat.
Unless its a project vehicle i wouldn't even consider it if it's a heavily used vehicle. But thats just me.
I...
It idle my 5.3 was about that. My 6.2 with all new stuff is also about that. If it kicks right up with rpms, I wouldn't worry too much. My 5.3 with a non vvt cam was higher than stock, so might just be the VVT lowering it a bit at idle.
If you hear audible engine noise and the oil psi...
Ha np. I have a bit of OCD so I obsess about shit I cant figure out until its figured out. I could never tune for a living.
Everything is pretty solid now so im happy. Not OCD enough to go yankin heads off for the noisy lifters at least. Ive made peace with it.
I relaxed the 02 sensors at low RPM using hptuners params. Reduced proportional fueling and increased integrator delay. Also clean maf and relocated iat sensor which was getting cooked and causing lean conditions, which causes erratic idle and fueling.
Hand calc matches dic on mine. Its noticable how much slower the gas gauge is going down too. When I would go downhill before, instant gauge would only read like 35 mpg. Now it reads 50-99. Thats the biggest change. Seems like idle is using less fuel and DFCO is kicking in now.
