I bet $2 that that's what caused it. Auto means that the transfer case is always engaged, even part-time, on the dry payment. This puts quite a bit of stress on it.

I have '14 Tahoe with a bench 2nd row. It doesn't recline back, and I think this makes long trips uncomfortable. My wife doesn't like the idea of replacing 2nd row with captains. There used to be recliner kits around years ago for NNBS, but nothing is available now. So I guess I'd need to modify...
Then again, you can use the same timer instead of the relay that was connected to the dimmer in your original desingn. To delay the relay activation till after the dome lights are fully lit. This way no relay buzzing and full replication of the interior lighting functionality at running boards...
Great job, nice project, thank you for the write-up!
There are some drawbacks with this wiring solution. You don't get puddle lights on approach with remote start and while exiting with engine running. However, the idea of keeping all the wiring on the outside is tempting.
I calculated some...
When I was testing my puddle light prototype, similar to yours in terms of LED placement, the straight relay hooked to X9 was rattling, which was expected given the nature of the gradual voltage build-up in the dome light. So I went with common collector cirquit with power transistor that is fed...
When you turn individual light on in the cabin, it has no effect on X9 junction... Turn it on as much as you want, your puddle lights will not do the same.
So, does your relay make a rattle?

Why did you not go with just one relay that is powered by the dome light (X9 P8)? It goes out when the engine is started anyway?
The dome light has a reverse dimmer, where it gradually builds up voltage at lights via pulse modulation. Does your first relay not making an awful rattle when the...
With all the problems that PCV system causes in 5.3L, I can't seem to find a single example of the PCV re-routed with exhaust scavenging as the vacuum source. I will be doing some experimenting soon to see if it's feasible. The setup is somewhat popular with turbo and non-muffled crowd, but some...
Good Father's Day, folks!
I've searched high and low, but it looks like that there is no current solution to the non-reclining nature of the middle row bench 60/40 seats. I once took a ride in my 2014 Tahoe's middle row and I found it way less then comfortable.
There used to be hinge kits...
