i got an 04...not sure what the previous owner has been putting in it...but i switched to Mobil 1 full syn. no issues related to the oil. put about 11k miles just under a year with oil changes consistently 3k miles. im happy with it for what it is worth.
i do alot of city driving id be interested to see whats it doing to the oil. next change ill send in a sample and update. thanks for the great posts on here!
when i do change the oil it be black as tar. not gunky its very thin just black. nothing like the clearish stuff that goes in. i ran it through a paint strainer once and ran a magnet over it nothing came up or was in the strainer except what looked like to be dirt.
i saw someone say that there is a study where it says it doesnt matter what you really use for oil, it matters more how often the oil is changed. anyone got any info i can read up on this? and opinions? thoughts on concept? ive been changing mine with mobil1 every 3 months or 3k miles...
i hear what you saying but sometimes people want the OEM radio and im willing to sell one for gas money honestly. it works and im honest. if not ittl just sit there. maybe someone will buy it maybe not. maybe someone will pick up a tahoe without any radio and this may be what they desire. its there.

those are recent pics. nothing has changed. make me a reasonable offer and pay for shipping and its yours even if you can resell it for more.
@malmed @mattt @JasonLmarsh
i think it may be better to get a slight upgrade. ive got through a couple key fobs i tend to damage them and the buttons tend to get stuck. the factory OEM ones. something a little better may work better for me.
that looks really good. yea i dont need remote start. i just want a more secure system for my ol truck. so all those three things together would complete what im asking for? take all parts and get it installed and im good to go?
my car got busted into by what looks like a junkie other night. they broke into a couple cars through the windows and took nonsense. i got the window replaced and the placew told me the stock alarm system wont go off if they dont open the door. now...sometimes i park my car 1/2 mile away, 3/4...
I have this exact unit system out of a 2004 LT tahoe if anyone wants to make me an offer i will sell it. i changed it out for a different unit. it works fine and is in good shape just osme of the stickers on the buttons are worn away. Im in NYC. let me know
thanks for the replies. so what from what i gather it goes like this:
keys, spacers, springs and shocks.
for the 3 to 4 inch lift anyone got links to the right parts for this group of equipment? gonna order them little by little. i see the parts in the post above :))
I honestly didnt realized it was an AWD version until i had to have it towed lol When i was buying it the VIN numbers etc all showed it was 4WD. long as it was 4x4 i guess it didnt make a difference to me. i dont know why thy made it AWD, ppl have told me that makes it even worse of a gas...
i read on another thread that someone said you can get 3 inch lift off using bilstein shocks versus putting in keys or a lift kit. which shocks can do this? pros/cons? asking for a 2004 tahoe LT. not trying to be cheap but its an older truck and i save little by little for all the upgrades...
rudt shield came off still making sound. elder mechanic took it for a ride and off listening he found it to be a muffler heat shield. got it up replaced, tightened some loose bolts, and now shes quiet.
checked the fluids earlier today to prepare for all this fluid work.
transmission fluid was a salmon pink color.
ATF was darkish.
brake fluid was olive/semi clear. looked like olive oil.
shop quoted me 400 to do alll the fluids and filters for 100k servicing, thoughts?
got it in the shope today. they were able to get the caliper bolts off after some elbow grease and lots of heat lol the brake pads were worn down to the clips. the mechanic thought it was this along with a rusting dust shield. long story short one of the calipers were also leaking. had brakes...
when i got those same codes around 93k, maybe 96k, i ran through the whole list and had a shop do comepltete diagnostics. turned out to be the 02 sensors going out. changed those and good as new.
