If it has a sunroof I agree that should be the first place to check but I’d start with having it checked to see if it is simply clogged. My old 02 Tahoe would drop from the roof center console into the cup holder.
I cannot agree more about the fake wood … and the fake chrome for that matter. Your mod looks great but so many questions!
Did you use an adhesive or heat shrink product? (And care to share what it was/where you got it?)
Were there any pieces you’d recommend treating in place instead of...
I’d agree with the caveat that if you can find a 2500 (6.0L engine) it would handle the towing even better.
I agree the lwb is a little trickier to park, but on road trips or desiring to bring kids friends with you the 3rd row on the swb essentially eliminates the storage space.
I also prefer a fully loaded depreciated truck than a new one with less options I’d want later, though I keep mine longer.
As for the ones you’ve mentioned, the Midnight Edition would be the deciding factor for me. I hate all the unnecessary plastic chrome accents on the K2XX generation suvs...
X2
It’s my understanding that there were significant electrical differences between ‘02 and ‘03 so if you go that route I believe you’re going to want to commit to swapping nearly everything electrical due to both the differences and the anti-theft communications in the system.
I’ve also done the solar panel without much luck here in Western Washington, but that was on my 92 Suburban that had a draw somewhere and sat a lot.
For this winter, I’ve installed quick disconnects on both batteries and if my daughter takes it to her home I’m looking at redoing the solar...
Resurrection as I didn’t see an answer to this specifically.
I live in a rural/suburban area on 2 acres with all cars kept outside. 1 cat is a good mouser (gets cocky birds too) but that wasn’t enough.
4 vehicles have had engine compartment evidence (wife’s VW W8 Passat was the worst off) and...
I have to also admit that I almost held off on the 09 due to the color. The pearl white makes it look more like a Caddy and I prefer dark.
I loved the color of my 02, it was the metallic forest green they discontinued in 04, just a hair lighter than my old 94 Nissan Pathfinder. Full body...
It did. I was a sad camper when that transmission failed. I already had the 2010 at the time and it took me months to decide a new transmission wasn’t worth it. I would have fixed the tranny but it also had an intermittent ABS code that two different shops looked into and ruled out the normal...
Hey everyone,
I've been posting on here a year +/- (after previously spending most of my time on the old Z71TahoeSuburban forum and a little bit on the Tahoe Forum) and realized I don't think I ever posted an intro here. I live in the greater Seattle area and am more comfortable doing...
Completely agree with liking the agility of my suburban (my 1992 was even better ... until I had the steering dampener repaired), but then again I've driven dualy ambulances & fire engines for years.
However I'm not sure I completely agree with the second part ... the K5 Blazers date back to...
I’ll throw in my $0.02 …
I have a family of 4 and have owned both swb & lwb from 3 generations of Suburban/Tahoes and my addition to the discussion hasn’t been asked yet:
How long do you intend to keep this one?
At the ages you identified I can see the value of trying to special order a swb...
Anyone still running this mod? I’m running a stock radio but have installed a Scoshe GMQ01 MagicMount wireless charger. Unfortunately it is designed to only charge at 13+ volts so it doesn’t stay on while parked. But today during a long freeway drive we spent the majority of the drive at 12.8-9...
Unless it had already been removed a 2002 Z71 should have had the OnStar module there. I know I pulled mine out from a bracket there and used the bracket to secure my HAM radio there with the remote head run up to the CD slots hidden by the door below the cassette player. I’m not absolutely...
I’m still a newbie on here too but I don’t think it was confirmed that it was a 5.3L vs 6.2L which IMHO makes a huge difference on the value at that mileage.
My ‘92 Suburban K2500 has one ... might have to try to remember to misplace it before it retires. I actually think I picked up a spare I never installed into the ‘02 Tahoe ... sounds like both truck may get them
Seems odd that it’s got black mirrors and not color matched or chrome.
I spent several months looking for my 09 4x4 6.2l and got lucky that i found the one I did just down in Portland in October. I would’ve preferred a darker color but I champagne isn’t as bad as I thought though.
X3+ on consideration of a little older, but I’d specifically say focus on 2005-06 as they had an updated alternator. 2003-04 had the same exterior look but had a bunch of internal changes aligned with the then new Silverado design and I always stay away from the first 2 model years.
I’d also...
Also going to have to monitor this as I didn’t know it was “a thing”.
2009 Tahoe happens pretty frequently. 2010 Suburban 2500 alternates between that and spitting up instead auto stopping when the tank gets to full.
Ditto ...
2002 Tahoe towing way too big of a trailer: actually did fine (except one hill on US1 in Oregon) including I90 on Snoqualmie Pass. That one trip caused me to buy the 1992 2500 Suburban that was a relative dream even before the transmission cooler was installed.
But I did eventually...
And I’m not convinced that the recall availability doesn’t have a local component. I had some work done on my 2010 Sub 2500 to try to eliminate the memory mirror issues with the replacement towing mirrors and when I picked it up they let me know they had done the airbag recall since it was in...
