Here is a photo of the new rails on the left and stock one on the right. The end pieces will be modified later after I install the quick disconnect inserts I am having machined up. You can see how much lower they are than a stock set.
I carry a 16 foot canoe on my Tahoe but I just don't trust the factory rack for putting that much stress on it... I also do not like how high all the aftermarket racks are because the extra height adds to the aerodynamic drag and reduced MPG. Plus many of the aftermarket ones use plastic on the...
I was watching a commercial the other day on some foreign SUV doing the devils revenge in Utah a very fun trail to run.
I noticed in the disclaimer they disconnected the sway bars I am wondering if the reason for this is to get the wheels to react more independent of each other to improve 4...
I am running 34.4 in tires with a 4 inch lift
The lift and tires killed the performance and MPG with stock gearing
With the stock 3.43 gearing I averaged 11 to 12 mpg.
I now have 4.11 gearing and average 16.8 to 18 mpg my next set of tires will be 35's to see if I can improve MPG a little...
Everyone seems to be talking about a ratio... But you also stated you wanted to go larger tires the size of your tires will affect the gear ratio you might want also... So, how big do you want to go with tires?
Nice looking bumper I would make sure you have a place to attach a farm jack to make it easier to change tires. I have windows in the front of mine and also a place to put a hook underneath it too.
My 4 inch lifted rig with 35 in tires and 4.10 gears. I also carry at least 150 pounds of bug out gear.
I get 15.8 on the low side lots of up and down hills or stop and go city driving and 19 on nice flat roads running 65 to 70 MPH.
Running 80 + mph in Utah I was getting an average between...
I agree it could have been run better as you stated BUT... I am in Green river Utah population 900 people right now. The only store within a 100 miles did not have a longer Positive cable or I would have run it differently... I will run a longer one along the fire wall when I get back to...
Why is it wrong to you?
It is the same way hundreds of factory units have been done for as far back as I can remember.
This method doubles your available cranking amps
Spreads the draw over two batteries instead of one taking twice as long to kill a battery.
Lengthens the battery life of both...
I waited till my old battery started to fail so I could install a second battery.. I have heard pros and cons about using electronic dual battery kits that are very expensive and I have seen a lot of vehicles with dual batteries hooked up in a parallel configuration with out those kits. There...
I don't have a 15 or newer mine is a 2011 It does a fair amount of off road travel. I try not to dent it but it certainly has a fair number of Nevada pin stripes. Post up some photos of yours...
