    4-6" Cross Member Cut Question

Anyone who has installed a lift and the rear cross member was cut to make room for the lowered front differential and has NOT had a plate welded on the new end, have you had any issues that made you wish you had the plate? I still think this plate welded onto the cross member end is a "nice to...

    4-6" Cross Member Cut Question

Thanks. But if that is true, then why wouldn't the other end of the cross-member connection that was not cut have a welded plate, too? RC doesn't have a step in their instructions for a welded plate, but the other steps are almost the same as BDS.

    4-6" Cross Member Cut Question

I have been researching lift kits for my 2009 Tahoe LT. Currently, I am leaning toward the BDS 4" lift kit. Why 4" and not 6"? Lower COG, and I still would like for the Tahoe to fit in my garage. Anyway, looking through the install instructions for the BDS kit, I noticed a step to weld on a...

    Z71 on ZW7??

I finally got a good answer from a GM parts person. The Z-71 Tahoe for at least 2009 had the following springs and shocks GM part numbers: Front - 25980102 (shock) 25876851 (coil) Rear - 25871229 (shock) 25978750 (coil) The ZW7 Tahoe for my 2009 Tahoe has: Front - 20765171 (shock) 25876851...

    Z71 on ZW7??

Thanks. I know for sure I do not have the autoride - no lines going to the shocks. @swathdiver mentioned the Z71 and Zw7 for my year Tahoe share the same springs I called the dealership and got the part numbers for my shocks - 20765171 for the front, and 25871225 for the rear. I asked the...

    Z71 on ZW7??

On my 2009 Tahoe 4wd LT, I have the ZW7 RPO code for the Premium Smooth Ride. Looking underneath, the tags for the front and rear coils were still attached and I was able to get the part numbers. For the front, both coils have GM #25876851. For the rear, both coils have GM #25978750. I read...

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

Thanks, everyone, for your inputs! The coil-over idea does seem like a very nice set-up, but it is also costly. If my Tahoe was dedicated to heavy off-road all the time, then investing in coil-overs would make more sense. I think I will take it a step down until I know more about what the...

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

Sorry. There are many pieces to this puzzle, and only a few I am starting to put together. I am so new to this, but I am trying to learn. I am still trying to understand coil-overs like the baja kit. This kit will also give more clearance in height like the Rancho or BDS suspension lift?

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

To be honest, I had not even considered it because I don't know about it. Will this baja kit help get me more clearance? How is it different from the cross-member drop? Sorry, I really don't know anything about it. Do you have any links on it?

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

I think I am going to start off with replacing the front bumper. I am going with @Bill 1960 suggestion to first focus more on recovery, and then build as I get to know what the Tahoe can/can't do. What front bumper brands do you suggest that are available for 2009 Tahoe, and have a hidden winch...

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

A light bulb went on! @Tozan You still have the 4" Rancho lift, but that product has been discontinued! I need to learn how to read, obviously! LOL! What product would be a good alternative to the 4" Rancho? I still would like to know exactly what the other parts are you put in with your 4"...

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

Thanks! Just to be clear in your comment, you used to have the Rancho 4" lift, but now you have the King suspension? If so, would you mind sharing what parts these are? What are you using for the rear? When I looked at your build thread, I saw the Rancho lift. Do you have any build pics for...

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

Thanks all! I live in Colorado, so I will do most of my four-wheeling in the mountains, which could be rocky. I would also like to take it to trails in Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. I can see where it makes sense to do something different on the front end with the plastic bumper. I have...

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

For budget, I am looking to spend in the $10K-$15K. Not all at once, but in stages. I'll still use the Tahoe to commute to work, so there will be 20 miles a day, 5 days a week, that will be on the highway. Again, I am not looking for it to be a rock crawler. However, I want it to be more biased...

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

Hello! I have a 2009 Tahoe LT with 140K miles on it, and it has the ZW7 premium smooth ride suspension. I bought the vehicle because it could haul my family, and it also is good for towing and is a 4x4. I am almost an empty-nester, so I don't need the family-hauling space as much as I used to...

Tow/Haul Button Problem on 2009 Tahoe - not a broken wire

Howdy. I just recently have the Tow/Haul button no longer working on 2009 Tahoe. I did read that the orange wire from the shifter may be broken. However, when I took the steering column housing off and inspected the wire, it was not broken. I did try moving the wire why pressing the button and...

Front Hitch Receiver for 2009 to low

Hi, I want to mount a front receiver on a 2009 Tahoe to mount a portable winch. The front receivers that are available are too low for my comfort as it sits below the fascia, and partially through the air dam. I want to have clearance in this are, so I really would prefer the hitch be higher -...
