The fabric of the space-time continuum is ripped! Gas prices always go UP when the Suburban needs gas and Down when the wife’s little Subaru needs gas. But for the past 2-3 weeks the opposite has been true. Filled up the Sub at $2.59
I was at the Dayton mall once and some guys had cut the top off an old mini van right above the doors they just left the windshield. It was their permanent convertible beater and it looked like they were having a blast driving it around. The body wasn’t stiff enough without the roof so they did...
Yesterday after I found my hood strut where it is supposed to be I went through the engine bay and cleaned all the battery and engine grounds and reinstalled them. Also the cable from the positive post of the alternator to the positive post of the battery. I did not want to mess with that ground...
What 2nd battery system did you install? I have the Hellroaring Primary/Backup Battery system. Also, why do some hoods have the hood lift strut and springs and some do not? My suburban does not have the hood lift strut.
SO I was going to do that this summer in the warmer months, but the kitchen remodel intervened. Should this be done when the plastic is WARM or would later this month when temps are in the 40s be safe(for the plastic)?
On the road again. Appears I have increased my gas mileage 20-25% while towing the camper. Normally I just leave it in Tow/Haul where it usually stays in M5 and rarely M4. I saw a post from @NickTransmissions to use M4 and M3. It always seemed like it was lugging in M5 pulling my 5000LB square...
So today we forgot to get gas and then made a wrong turn. Display switched from 35 mile remaining to "Fuel Level Low". Drove around 20 more miles before getting gas and the needle was about 1/16" below E. Took 27.5 gallons to fill up and supposedly 31.5 gallon tank. So about 4 gallons remaining...
Took it boondocking. Really roughing it - no microwave! Beautiful weather - until it came time to pack up. Ran the battery down powering the camper. I have the Hellroaring backup battery system installed. Here I am flipping the switch to start up. Worked like a charm.
I had the same trouble code. What fixed mine was to disconnect the battery negative, remove and clean the ground under the driver seat on the frame, remove and clean the two grounds at the rear drivers side frame by the bumper, reconnect battery negative.
It’s been about a month and 1200 miles since I cleaned the one ground on the frame under the drivers seat and two on the left side back by the bumper. No electrical issues since.
To the OP, for my own understanding (because I may be faced with the same dilemma): $5800 was complete removal, rebuild, install with 2 year warranty from a local shop. $4300 was GM rebuilt trans with 3 year warranty NOT INCLUDING removal and install labor. Correct?
Nothin! Don’t hate on me but I have been bringing the maintenance up to date on my daughters NYC Escape. It really is a nice ride with the 3.0 liter.
We bought the 2012 escape in 2017. I only started keeping track on the inside of this cabinet door when I was taking care of 6 family cars and...
When I was stationed in Germany the trades were greatly respected. Remember when Schrempp the president of Daimler-Chrysler was asked why he made 10% of what the president of Chrysler made? He said because it would be immoral!
You could measure them. I measured my fronts using a trailer tongue weight scale (see my post New Front Struts Question). But you could measure the rear by measuring the height to the wheel well with and without 10 bags of water softener salt over the rear axle.
Welcome to the forum from O-H-I-O. If you are installing the second battery because of the camper and boondocking then for the second battery check out the HellRoaring backup battery solution.
