Some more carnage from the main bearings. I guess wolverine was working on the line the day this engine was being built. All was going well but ordered the wrong piston rings so now got to keep waiting for now
thanks already bought all the bearings after seeing this. I have done this job before so I have all the tools going to send the block to get it cleaned and honed tomorrow.
Hey guys so as i was prepping to rebuild today. I took off the rear coversince all new seals were going to be used and low and behold this gem. The rear bearings has a bunch of little scratches. I ran my fingers and my nails woukd catch. Guess I will have to remove those bearing bushings after all
The One thing I never checked because of my inexperience then was push rod length, I have the tool now and the fact I had to use different heads and ls7 lifters I should probably check them in the near future. good thing the heads don't need to come off for this
I lost faith in the machine shop near me when I took my heads in to remove my broken manifold bolts on a previous build. They claimed they could not use a welder to get them out because they were going to do more damage to the heads and that it was not possible. I know Steel and Aluminum don't...
Hello everyone.
So a few years (2018) To be exact I pulled my engine after I was trying to add some headers to my engine and it had to many broken bolts.
So I basically refreshed the whole engine added new bearings an LS2 chain and LS7 Lifters and Valve Springs (The Blueys) with a splash of...
I painted the Valley cover and valve covers during COVID because I had an oil leak and the VLOM bolts were so loose i could turn them by hand.
Then my dumb a$$ broke a plastic connection on the VLOM so i had to buy new one and had extra paint.
I bought this car with about 80k miles and now...
Hello my fellow contributors on this DOD journey, so the Engine is out and dissembled. one of the AFM Lifters has a shiny spot on the inner corner (I'll show pictures later) the cam is not chewed up at all (I was expecting some carnage but it has some uneven wear patterns kind of odd. My...
when I was checking this site last the packages offered the cam that's identical to an LS7 cam. When I posted about it many asked if I was turbo charging my engine, which I was not. If you don't care for a special cam Check rock auto for an L92 cam or an L9H cam and buy it separately. just did...
I'm there with you currently tearing down my engine to do a DOD delete. The L9H cam is what I choose its identical to the L92 and it has a bit more duration than the current cam. Many say all you need to do is turn off dod with out a tune, but I'm sure a tune will make it drive a bit better.
Thank you all for your help.
I went with the L9H cam to save a few bucks and buy some other goodies to make this engine better and a future candidate to cam up and drop in in a resto-mod if the truck ever takes a dump.
I bought most of the goods on rock auto and Michigan Motorsports and I even...
Ok so as I was looking at other posts i saw many people pointing at these cams and when I was looking at the specs there has to be a typo right? can a cam have a 350+ duration. I feel not even stage 3 cams have that!!! so the picture I shared the one on the right is for the l92 engine and the...
I will interpret your response as "yes you need the whole LS7 lifters and valve springs to get this cam working correctly" lol... you know just in case the wife realizes how much I spent.
Did you keep everything pretty much stock or did you update lifters and springs as well
Found the cam its Pricey as much as the Cam Motions but its available immediately which is something I want since this is my daily and my beater currently is trying to Carbon Monoxide poison me as I drive
that cam motion option looks nice but it takes like 4 weeks to get which is of putting when you need to fix it asap. My folks will fly in soon and take my daily beater with them and don't want to drive my truck knowing I can damage more internals as it is. but it looks tempting for sure thanks.
