    total longshot, but try compressing the shocks one corner at a time. i had a rear blow out, that made a very odd " thump". i couldn't get the sound to duplicate after exhausting myself. then i climbed on the bumper to reach the roof rack, and it happened.

    i have a locking cap, but not the door. even the cap seems to freeze on occasion. i keep a can of lock deicer in the truck, that stuff does work. and then i periodically spray silicone or wd into the keyhole.

    its all in the tires. i have to switch to my winter tires, ive been putting it off. I have to say, after years of driving a 3500 cummins in the snow, i look back and although the ride and comfort was garbage , it did handle the snow better than the tahoe.

    800 seems a bit high for idle. you dont say what year, so i dont know if you have a cable or wire to throttle body. and im not even sure of it, but a throttle relearn may correct the idle, if its drive by wire not cable.
