Greetings everyone. This all happened between Sunday afternoon and Monday evening.
I drove my 2002 Tahoe about 40 miles on a hot 115 degree F day to help my sister move. Right as I pulled up to her house, Service Engine Soon light came on. I got it checked out right away at the OReilly...
I just had the same codes pop up on my 2002 this morning on my way to work. P0300 (random/multiple cylinder misfires), P0171, P0174 (both banks too lean) and also a C0281 (Brake Switch Circuit).
I'm also a fairly new 2nd owner and everything was original. Bought it in Feb of 2017 with 131k...
I definitely agree with you on that one! As a side note, my SES (service engine soon/check engine) light came on this morning on my way to work. Got it checked after work and I got the following codes:
P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfore Detected
P0171 - System too Lean (bank 1)
P0174...
Thanks for the comments guys!
My truck does usually get up to operating temp by the time I get to work if that makes any difference.
Also, about once a month I take a ~175 mile trip to see family and when it's warmer I like to take longer trips out to the lake or the woods for some fishing or...
Hi everyone.
I got a low coolant warning on my message center a little over a week ago now. When I checked the reservoir it was a little under the full cold line so I topped it off with 1 liter of dexcool/water mix.
Before taking a short road trip to see family, I checked coolant and oil...
Hi everyone.
I've got a 2002 Hoe with a 26 gallon tank according to the manual.
I regularly put 17-19 gallons when I "fill up" (fill 'till the pump shuts off the first time).
I try not to run it below 1/4 tank because I heard the fuel is used as lubrication for the fuel pump or something...
Finally got a build sheet!
From the GM live chats make sure you select "Product Feature Question on Vehicle I Own".
The gal copied and pasted right into the chat box in about 10 seconds!
Just wanted to say thanks to all you guys that suggested it. I thought I was going to have to go...
I'm about to install heated seats on my 2002 with cloth seats. Just waiting on a few things to be delivered later this week. I plan on tapping the power window fuse so they shut off when the vehicle isn't running.
That's one thing I was unsure about with the bigger rotors. I've got the stock 16" wheels so it wouldn't work for me right now.
Maybe down the road I'll go that direction.
Thanks for all your help!

The extent of what I think I know about NNBS is that it stands for "new new brake system" and pulls front brake systems off of newer models. From what I read, the rear system on my range year of Tahoe is better than the newer model years.
I had already bought new front wheel hubs, rotors, and pads for the front.
After pricing rear calipers, I'm tempted to return the hubs (~ $200)...
I'm thinking I'll get everything to square away the rear (where the bad rotor was), and get the rest of the stuff for the front when I have the...
You guys have some good points that I hadn't thought of. Looks like I'll be replacing the calipers this weekend.
On a somewhat related note... When I checked my brake fluid I saw some little floaty/flaky things in the master cylinder. I tried sucking them out with a baster and replaced 12 oz...
What makes you say that? Just because I'd already be in there?
I just installed the new rotors and break pads today. I didn't get new calipers but I'm going to take the wheels back off after I get home from work tomorrow and make sure everything looks good. Round trip from home to work to...
Surprisingly I could only really hear it when the windows were down. Once it got really loud and the shaking started is when I stopped driving it.
I work nights so if it were throwing sparks I would think I would have seen them.

Looks like you were right about the brakes. Rotor is beyond toast.
I got the new tires about 3 weeks after I bought the vehicle. The noise hadn't started until recently.
The tires I went with were Pathfinder All Terrains from Discount Tire. Some of my coworkers also work at Discount so I...
Hey everyone. Thanks for the replies and insight. Something came up yesterday so I didn't get the questionable wheel off until just now.
So, the rear inside pad (left) was completely worn away and had come loose from the upper caliper clip. Even the metal noise clip was completely broken...
Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to the forum and this is my first real post.
I purchased a 2002 Tahoe LS back in February 2017 and recently had some problems arising.
It started with a metal on metal sound coming from what I thought was my front driver side wheel. Everything I looked up sounded...
