Help me find this oil leak please!

Pictures would have been nice, I haven't gotten the patience to do my rear main seal and cover gasket yet, I have the same area around the starter wet and drips, and also have a drip for around my drain plug that is coming from somewhere above, then that oil travels through the oil pan down to...

    Complete front end replacement/upgrade

Wished you would have told me that earlier!!! I went with all MOOG except my pitman arm, I went with a AC delco Pro one, since I heard bad things about installing the MOOG one, I did my entire front end and recently even UCA bushings, which were a pain in the ass to remove and install even using...

    Alignment from hell rant

I went back to the same place as I wanted them to do it and do it right, but I kid you not, the guy left my tie rod lock nuts loose from both right and left end tie rods! I drove it like that for 40 miles until I decided to check his work by chance. At this point I was sure it had messed the...

    Tracking mysterious single pop/clunk SOLVED

I will check tomorrow hopefully, if I dont find anything loose/worn anywhere, I suspect it will end up being the following tsb, as it is exactly what I'm experiencing. #06-08-61-003D: Underbody Pop or Clunk Type Noise While Turning or Driving on Uneven Road Surfaces (Install Body Mount...

    Tracking mysterious single pop/clunk SOLVED

I've tried but not with much force, will give that a shot with my entine weight. Now that I think about it, when I was doing my uca bushings I noticed a similar pop sound when I was either jacking it up or down I can't really recall, I had the driver side uca done and I was about to do the...

    That noise tho!!

From what I've managed to gather I think he is hearing a tiny guy banging the maracas the second he starts moving.

    That noise tho!!

An easy way to determine if its the chain is to raise the rear with jack stands safely and have somebody put it in gear, and have a listen.

    Tracking mysterious single pop/clunk SOLVED

rebuilt entire front end aside from, CV axles/Hubs, as they were tight and had no play in any axis, I even did control arm bushings and camber/caster kits. Lower control arms look fine, I've gone back and retightened just about everything to spec, I even torqued the front and rear cross member...

    That noise tho!!

Transfer case chain would definitely sound like maracas, does it change with acceleration or is it constant?

Installing front driveshaft w/o index marks

If everything feels fine its ok, I've never bothered to mark those, but there is always disagreements on that.

    Alignment from hell rant

I agree totally with you, brought it twice to them, to give them the benefit of the doubt, twice they've failed me. Now, I'm 110 dollars down, I could have almost gotten some new front cv's for that and then taken it to an alignment shop that gives two cents about their customer. I will make...

    Alignment from hell rant

Update: made some time to check things out and guess what I found, the passenger caster bolt was loose, I was able to move the nut with a 3 and a half inch long rachet, that was enough to tell me it wasn't even close to torque spec, literally as I moved to tighten, both! Cams just moved, now I...

    Alignment from hell rant

I'm starting to think that it will end up being those upper bushings, since everything else in the suspension seems nice and tight, and it only happens in full lock with speed. Although I'm still puzzled how that turn threw my steering wheel out of whack, like a full 20 degrees off to the right...

    Alignment from hell rant

Here is what the alignment looked like after it was done, the guy said the adjuster was maxed out in that side, the thing I don't understand is if both sides have to be equally adjusted because the driver side cam plate has more room to be adjusted but the passenger side is maxed, that or it...

    Alignment from hell rant

Finally had the time to get an alignment to start using my truck again, my wheel was about 15 degrees to the right before getting it done, I forgot to mention this as I figured they would correct it with the right alignment. Surprise they didn't. Oh well, no big deal right, well I wish that was...

    2" lift with smooth ride.

5100's hands down, and you can keep it stock or level the front without using those dumb front spacers.

Did I just get ripped off?

Were those easy to access brake lines or the ones that run throughout the truck? 850 is pretty stiff, 500 would have been more reasonable but it depends on what brake lines they replaced. doesn't matter how you look at it the house always wins. Which is why I do most of my own work whenever...

    2005 Tahoe Z71 4x4

Like everyone has said, transmission is the main concern here, mine went at 180k broken sun shell, mine was abused. My family has owned several of these trucks and they tend to go between 200k to 250k for the most part, my uncle has been lucky and his has lasted 280k miles so far, especially if...

    Tahoe Owner From Hell Paso,TX

I hope aside from transfer case nothing else in the drive train is screwed, that stuff can get expensive real quick. Keep us updated, I been wrenching on mine since I got it, and had to fix a lot of things the previous owner had hacked, or needed repair. Transmission/transfer case/rear diff/...

    Dreaded service brake system message

I freaking love you! That was it. I didn't see one under the master cylinder yesterday but it never occurred to me it was relocated there in my truck either. I will bleed all 4 corners on Sunday just to make sure there is no air. Thank you all for the quick responses.

    Dreaded service brake system message

I recently replaced my entire suspension, kept the old hub bearings since those have around 50k miles. now brake related I replaced an old cracked line in the driver side and readjusted the pistons back to their resting place to service the guide pins and lube the hardware brake pads are also in...
