Lower thermostats, really needed?
EXCELLENT INFO!!!! I always think cars run too hot. But then I work on 50's cars. LOL, people would take OUT the thermostat thinking it'll run really cool! LOL - RAN HOTTER!!! Water would flow too fast thru the radiator and it couldn’t dissipate the heat.- SnowBuck

"... has upgraded to the digital onstar since 2007" What does that mean? Physical equipment upgrade, or just the membership??? I bought a 2005 Yukon with OnStar. Went to their website and registered it and it works fine. -
Battery not charging light for first few seconds
Man, I was real hesitant to jump on the 4-yr Extended Bumper-to-Bumper w/Loaner, but already cashed in on an O2 sensor, exhaust leak, that voltage gauge issue, etc. Just drop it off, grab keys to another vehicle there, and on my way = no charge! (LOL – money, not voltage that is).- SnowBuck

Steering Wheel Turned SLightly When going STRAIGHT
Alignment Same thing: straight highway, tracked perfectly not holding wheel...but it was cocked 1/2" to the right. Needed adjustment to the LF Camber and RF Toe. Fine now. About to purchase a new truck.
Of the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade clan...doesn't the Escalade not only get the worst gas mileage and on top of that - it requires Premium fuel? I was looking at one cheap, but it didn’t have the room of the XL AND had worse mileage.- SnowBuck

Just back from the Dealer. They would be worried if it dropped all the way down. They claim that fluctuation is perfectly normal. -

Had the 2005 XL/SLT 3 months now. Notice the voltage gauge reads about 16ish for the first 50-100 miles highway. It eventually settles to a hair below 14 and stays. After parking, it seems to go up again before settling back down ??? Manual calls this "normal?" ??? -

Measure the WIDTH very carefully INSIDE the sidewall indentations. Bought mine (15051511) from the Dealer. It's supposed to be held in 2 indentations in the sidewall by the rear. Took a Pic o' my DIC...whoa...to prove 21.4mpg. NJ-thru DE-to-MD with cruise on 60mph the whole way. Got 20.5 last weekend, but can always count on 18 at least. City - that's another story. Two months ago: 2005 XL/SLT/AutoRide/Stabilitrak option (Stabilitrak/Squiggly Line/4 Low), all Options, w/63k miles. Slid a Cashiers Check for $18K across the table, Dealer slid it back! LOL Had to pay the Sticker: $18,900 (KBB Retail = $21,874). Big plus over eBay, came State Inspected ...- SnowBuck
