I got my parts from All State Gear and all of the bearings are Nachi and made in Japan. I've never had an issue with Nachi bearings. I believe I have Nachi bearings on my rear wheels, actually.
Question. Does anyone know if it's worth it/necessary/possible to install the "updated clutch return spring" in an NP246 without one? I got all my parts, but keep seeing this come up on websites...
I just installed a new (not reman) Remy 145a alternator and it whines like a somabich. I figured maybe it's gonna break in. Nope, wines. Returning it. But one thing I noticed was that randomly my volt meter showed it sink to 12V similar to my 2014 Silverado does when the charging system sees...
My 4L60E was starting to exhibit some shudder between 1-2 and it'd seem to slip (almost like the TC was in and out of lock) in 4th gear. I decided to chuck a parts cannon at it to see if I fix it with the usual solenoid, accumulator, and servo outpatient surgery and see what happens. The 1-2...
So... I have a whine that follows engine RPM. It sounds JUST LIKE when you put an aftermarket stereo in and have a bad ground and get RPM whine through the speakers, but I disconnected the amp I have installed and the noise remains (and the noise was there beforehand anyway). I have, for other...
To level my truck side to side and at the height I wanted it, one key is cranked way more than the other. Measures great on level ground but... don't expect the keys to be adjusted exactly the same.
Yeah, my only issue is this is my land vehicle and occasionally I need to back out in offroad situations or backup up steep hills. Otherwise I wouldn't care as much.
Interesting. Well... I guess I'll warranty and replace it just in case. I have bigger problems... today my trans started slipping in reverse if I hit the gas more than just slightly above idle. Ug...
What is normal fan/fan clutch behavior on cold start on a cold day? Mine seems to be locked up with the fan spinning on cold engine and stays this way until I drive for a few miles (you can hear the fan spinning full tilt and blowing air with engine speed). Once I'm out driving, it seems to...
I don't have an Escalade or Denali, but a 2002 Tahoe LT with the locker and 3.73s that's never left Georgia. I paid $4800 for it, rebuilt the front suspension and changed fluids, and put some take off 2014 wheels on which already had damn near new Bridgestone K02s on them.
I was just offered...
I have to wonder if my bigger, heavier tire/wheel setup is to blame, though. It wasn't an issue with the stock shocks but they were "smooth ride" shocks.
I've been doing some experimental bump testing and am highly suspicious of only the front right shock right now. I'm going to warranty out one of them, see what happens.
I engaged Bilstein and they're giving me things to look at all the way through the sector shaft of the steering box, which is a rebuild. I don't have steering issues, though, I have tire bounce issues. They said I can warranty replace with RockAuto if I want, so I probably will. I almost want...
I got that P/N from RockAuto - doubt they were counterfeit from them. Price was lower than elsewhere because it's RockAuto, but I earned it back in shipping cost, so... a wash mostly.
I have my torsion bars set so the height of the front has both sides of the LCA contact pad just touching...
I have brand new bump stops, sway bar end links, and all of the ball joints and bushings in the front suspension are replaced except for the sway bar bushings, which appear to be fine. I will replace them anyway, but this is a tire bouncing up and down not body role issues.
I installed Bilstein 4600's on my 2002 which has oversized BFG AT tires on 2014 Silverado wheels. I mention that because the tire/wheel combo is certainly heavier than any stock wheel configuration -- otherwise, that's the only difference from stock when it comes to suspension. Well, that and...
It doesn't matter which battery you connect your amplifiers to UNLESS you are isolating one battery for vehicle-off reserve (running the stereo with the engine off) OR you have an isolated high end battery (like an Optima Yellow Top or one of those car audio batteries) and want to run the system...
It's like the bearing is not supporting it.
Last night, I did some investigation and pulled the stub shaft out, looked it over (looks fine), felt up the new bearing to see if maybe it's broken (it seems fine), and checked the CV axle (I think it's fine, too). Reinstalled the stub shaft and...
Like everyone else on the face of the planet with a Tahoe/Suburban, my factory subwoofer was toast. Did some research and went with this Image Dynamics ID8 for $90 (purchased from a small business). It fits in there like it was made for it (no cutting required) and sounds great with the 230...
Replaced my rear axle bearings and seals the other day. One of them was leaking a small bit so... did 'em all. Found a bad axle on the driver side (see photo). Not sure how it happened, but it happened - truck has 193K. Passenger side looked brand new. Anyway, went looking around for...
