What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I did the rear end finally. I had to use a 12mm socket on the rusted 13mm bolts tapped on with a hammer to get them off. I also used a propane torch to help loosen them up. The new Amsoil containers are awesome! Installed new stainless bolts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

It’s the same as the MG Chemicals silver conductive epoxy. That eBay seller would take $25 per kit. I bought one and it’s enough for a lifetime of tab failures. Just follow the instructions and carefully apply heat: 160 degrees for 15 minutes and it’s fully cured. My garage ambient was like -5...

Engine Oil Cooler Lines - Easiest Method???

I bought this on eBay and will be making my own lines to the cooler. Its so much easier to use Parker flexible lines. McMaster-Carr is a good supplier. I did this with my Duramax before for fuel lines and they have some modestly priced hose that is rated up to like 500 degrees.

08 tahoe with 102 k miles and Afm

I recently picked up an '09 Tahoe with 92,000 miles and I'm not sure what route I'm going. Probably going to disable it with HP Tuners and tune it to regain the MPG loss.

Indiana penalty for having a Hybrid

Same shit is going on with solar power. Utilities have lobbied the state regulators to allow them to limit “metering” (feeding excess solar power into the grid) for money. Also, some utilities are charging substantial fees for solar homes to have power after dark. It’s such a scam...

    Extended Warranty by Dealer Offered

What’s the purchase cost of the vehicle? Can you still get a quote from GMPP? IIRC there is a dealer in PA that sells GMPP just above cost. Like 25-40% cheaper than your hometown GM dealer. I’ve bought a couple plans from them for a newer used cars over the years.

2010 Interior light replacement to LED

I like to have a map light on when I eat and drive. This will make it a little less obvious. I suppose it would mask a ketchup spill.

    Best insurance company for Tahoe?

Regarding valuations, they use the same dirty techniques all the other insurance companies do. Comes down to this classic scenario: you having a vehicle worth $15k (used fair market value via AutoTrader, CarGurus, KBB,etc). The insurance company (USAA for example) will return a “professional”...

    Best insurance company for Tahoe?

USAA premium prices may rock but if your ride gets totalled, expect to go to war with the adjusters. I can tell you countless horror stories about USAA alone. No insurance company is your friend or “has your back”. It’s their job to maximize how much you pay them and how much they can not pay...

BlackBear does GREAT work! OP was salty and quick to jumped the gun

I agree 100%. Tuning is not rocket science. My brother made a series of YouTube DIY videos regarding HP Tuners. Lots of people out there on the forums willing to help you out too. Watch YouTube and learn how to do it.

How to Enable Daytime Running Lamp?

It’s BCM controlled. DRL’s save countless lives everyday. Akin to seatbelts. In concert with all the other safety crap, probably 100,000’s of less maimed and/or dead people around. I live in a remote area and the DRL’s make a huge difference for go/no-go decision making when passing on long...

How to Enable Daytime Running Lamp?

I wonder if you could just flash a calibration from a different VIN to your BCM. I did this for a Canadian 2500HD that I imported. I flashed the instrument cluster with a calibration meant for a different part number. It worked. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    The Case for the Tech-2

You need ANY functioning J2534 pass-thru device. Those with a Tech II have have the option to use it as a pass-thru device or as a standalone (connect to car, download vehicle data, connect Tech II to PC and connect to TIS2000 and download calibrations, disconnect and then re-attach Tech II to...

    The Case for the Tech-2

I have yet to experiment with that. The way I read it, you can only make the total amount of changes that the truck was originally configured for. In other words, if the VIN has 38 module sections then you can do a total of 38 firmware/calibration updates (regardless of if you update a single...

    The Case for the Tech-2

Yes. I like it versus the old way (they changed it in the last year). It used to be where you can get a $55 72-hour subscription pass to get unlimited vehicle calibrations access for any GM vehicle. Now you pay $40 per VIN to get 24-months access. I like it better than the old way as I can work...

    The Case for the Tech-2

It’s TIS2web now. You don’t have to install anything. Just log into acdelcotds.com It costs $40 per VIN for 24 months access for calibration updates. Useful for the notorious P2135 repair. It’s all Java based and you use the Tech 2 as a J2534 pass-thru device. The standalone Tech 2 will...

Do I need to delete AFM?

I’d fix that manifold leak first and see if it’s responsible for the tick. Any exhaust manifold bolts broken off? Inspect them all. I had that issue on my ‘03 2500HD and had to weld nuts onto the broken studs to get them out.

After new calipers the brake pedal goes to floor after multiple bleeds... help!

Find someone with a Tech II or bidirectional scan tool and run the ABS bleed process. I had a similar issue (and I have a Tech II) and it made a considerable difference. I believe my issue was ingesting some air in the system while manually bleeding.

    Engine hours

    Engine Block Heater ?

Please know that if you hook up your own custom block heater or have the factory one and cut off the special thermostatic plug, you will most likely get a Check Engine warning light. This applies to at least the 2007+ trucks. Lots of people have tried to “fix” the factory block heaters as they...
