    Transfer Case for 2003 Z71

Also do some research on the model and check the interchange at the salvage yard if you go that route. Get the newest model year that will work with your vehicle. I had a 2002 Trailbazer (NP226 I think) that I replaced the transfer case in. Prior to 2006 they had a weakness (small center...

    Another tint thread :puke:

I went 20% once on a vehicle and regretted it. 20% was way too hard to see through at night when you're trying to back your vehicle up. 37% I had done on a couple of other vehicles and was very happy with the compromise. 20% looks cool in the daytime but it sucks at night if you ever back...

Best oil for 100K + engines?

I would say yes. I've switched used cars I purchased with over 100K miles to synthetic and had no issues that I didn't have prior to switching. The only thing with synthetic oil is that if you have a leak it will leak a little more, if you didn't have a leak previously then you might develop...

    Does anyone know

It should work. Most of the CAN enabled scanners are backward compatible with our older ODBII vehicles. Most if not all GM switched to CAN from the Class II databus in 2006. I have an Actron that I use on my 07 Saturn Sky and my roomate's 99 Chrysler Cirrus and it works for both.

    Poor gas mileage question

Maybe bad gas? If the CEL is blinking while the engine is under load it's having a problem with the ignition cycle. It could be bad gas, worn plugs, bad wires, maybe even an O2 sensor that might need to be replaced with high mileage. Also cat converters when they go bad they keep the...

    03 tahoe smoking help

Same here, right down to the 88 IROC. The seals do go bad over time, 200K+ miles is a long time for the orginal seals and guides to have lasted.

    Smelly air from vents?

I haven't looked into this yet on the Escalade, but my previous Cadillacs and a couple of other vehicles had an afterblow function you could turn on in the computer. If your vehicle was shut down with the A/C on and the outside temp was more than 80 degrees then the fan would run for 10 minutes...

    SLOPPY STEERING 2004 2wd tahoe

My 05 Escalade had the same issue when I bought it early this year. The intermediate steering shaft helped some, new tires also helped some as it had larger 285 series load range E tires on it when I bought it. Its better but not as tight as I feel it should be. I'm actually considering...

New to the Forum, just bought an '04 Escalade EXT

Do the wires for sure at that mileage, the plugs might be ok though. At 83K miles my plugs were just fine, the wires though needed changing. There isn't much to tune up on modern vehicles.

    clunking/rattling noise

Just get a new one next time. They're cheap enough, around $65 if I remember correctly. I had mine replaced on my 05 Escalade as part of the purchase due bill due to the clunk on the test drive. It fixed the problem, but I'm told it will probabaly start doing it again in about 50K miles.

Best oil for 100K + engines?

I use Mobil 1 synthetic in all my vehciles, I have since the early 90s when I got my first high performance vehicle. I continue to use it even in my econobox, trucks, SUVs, beaters, etc. What sold me on straight synthetic oil was the first time I tore the top of the engine off on my old...

    Engine Overheated...

No, I'd say you're fine if that was the case. Originally I got the impression that you drove it for awhile hot.

    Front diff service

I would have been happy if mine looked like that at 83K miles. What I did was clean the plug and put it back in several more times before I grabbed a magnetic pick up and used that instead. I probably pulled out a dozen more clumps that looked like that. Then I put some gear lube in and some...

    Engine Overheated...

change the fluids. Change the engine oil, and you probably should change the trans fluid as well. I'm not sure of your setup but if you don't have an external trans fluid cooler then it run through your radiator and without coolant it likely cooked. Trans fluid start to break down above...

    2005 z71

That sounds high to me as well. I bought an 05 AWD Escalade 83K miles, with every option for $16K in January and that was from a GM dealer. About the only problems I see are transmissions and differentials with these vehicles. My Escalade has the heavier duty 4L65E transmission and I found...

tahoe tune up adn tools set questions

Definately buy new wires. You'll likely destroy at least a few of the old ones getting them off. Also be carefull with wires if you have a 6.0L. I had to return a set after finding out there are two part numbers listed for the OEM and Bosch. The 6L requires the longer wires. PCM tunes can...
