    Timing problems.

Very good point sir! Just finding all the bolts and where they came from was a task after it had been apart for so long.

    Timing problems.

I think my problem was that we didn't turn the oil pump shaft. I suspected that would need to be done in order for the dizzy to fall into place, but the person I asked about this said I shouldn't have to. I knew I was correct on this. This is my first engine build though. It's running like shit...

    Timing problems.

I bought this OEM style replacement Summit Racing distributer for my 1996 Vortec 350: https://m.summitracing.com/parts/sum-850098 Prior to installing it, I found TDC, and pointed the rotor to the number 1 plug wire on the cap. I checked my timing, and I am 18-20 degrees advanced. I spent 5 1/2...

    Front seat slack

Will do brother. I'm still fighting to get my motor dialed in right now, so I haven't even tried to to take a seat out to look at it yet.

    Ignition control module

Rebuilt the engine in my 96 Tahoe, and threw a cam in it, entirely new ignition system EXCEPT for the ICM. Ran it quite a bit to set the valves. At one point it just died and would not restart. My dad was helping me at this point, and put in a call to his brother, retired mechanic. He advised to...

    Front seat slack

Ok, that will be something to look for. Thanks!

    Front seat slack

Exactly. Seats are bolted down securely, but it seems like there is slack in the tracks.

    Front seat slack

I tried a search, no luck. I've almost got my Hoe legal for the street. I'm noticing some rattles here and there, two of them I know for sure, are the front seats. There is slack in them, and they will rock front to back. The truck has 230k miles, so they have seen their fair share of usage. Is...

Wanting to install some electric fans

That's actually what I would like to buy, but that price! I think I only paid about $300 for the one I put on my 88 Mustang. $600 hurts the bank account a bit more. I did like that set up though for the ease of installation though. It's not entirely out of the question. I was just looking for...

Wanting to install some electric fans

Yeah, I will just have to see if I am smart enough to find all of the parts, and use the diagram to make it all work!

Wanting to install some electric fans

Found it! This was the one I was looking for the Mark Viii efans. http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articles/markviii.html

Wanting to install some electric fans

I read one thread some some efans bought at Advance, that worked out pretty well, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that a cheap option involved using junkyard Thunderbird fans. From what I read, this was a pretty common upgrade. Does anyone have a write-up on this process?

Will I have issues with this cam?

Were those loaded, or bare? Rock Auto has the bare and the loaded ones. The bare heads are $270, just checked them. Then they have reman heads for $243, plus $100 core.

Thank you Jenna, I will do that.

Will I have issues with this cam?

Cool. Thanks! I know that if I use a more aggressive rocker ratio I will need to make several modifications. Might pick up another set of heads. On Rock Auto, they sell bare heads for like $230 IIRC. I wonder about my heads though. I wonder about my heads though, I think they're the early...

Will I have issues with this cam?

Ok, so it shouldn't be an incredible lift. Right?

Will I have issues with this cam?

That is what I am hoping! Lol

Will I have issues with this cam?

Yep. I read an article about aftermarket rockers on Vortec heads, and I think I need to either buy the tools to modify the heads, or send them to a shop, and buy the 1.6 rockers. The tech told me this cam would work with those rockers. I don't think he's an idiot because he is a "tech" for a...

Will I have issues with this cam?

I know NOTHING about cam specs, choosing a cam, etc. I contacted Comp Cams, told a tech what I was trying to achieve, and he suggested this cam: He also suggested 1.60 ratio rockers with it. I have not yet ordered a set of rockers. Will I have clearance issues with the OEM rockers?

That's cool, I've never seen that on the forums that I'm familiar with. Thanks again!

    Where is Julie@BBP?

I talked to her a while back about ordering a tune. I have tried contacting her recently, and she has not responded. When I clicked on her name, I noticed this on her profile:

    5.7 Vortec EGR Delete

Yeah, that is why I do not trust any shop to perform the work that I know I can do myself! This task is also my first attempt, but I do have a lot of great support.

    5.7 Vortec EGR Delete

Thanks for the info guys! I bought a can of sprayable Seafoam. Haven't used it yet though. I did run a can through my Wrangler however, and it seems to run a little better. I recently reassembled my motor after almost 2 years of being torn down. I'm not sure if it's the original engine or not...
