I recently towed a 5000 lb trailer and it was a dog. I have the 3:43 axle and it got so hot I thought it was going to seize up. I had it in the 87 tune mode before that and didn't notice a bit of difference.
They work! I did the gear replacement today. Took me about 1 1/2 hours for the first one, the second one about 45 minutes. The directions on their web site are very good. Trickiest part for me was unsnapping the glass mirror from the housing. I managed to do it all without breaking any of the...
Finally got the little plastic gears in today. See if I get some time and try the install. They certainly don't look worth the price. We shall see if they last. Hate to be replacing them every few months. It looks pretty complicated.
I agree, the 20 inch wheels kill the ride quality. I had a Infiniti M5 and the previous owner put 20 inch wheels and it rode like crap. I put the stock wheels back, and was like night and day. Rode sweet then.
The problem with buying another mirror is they will have the same plastic gear that breaks. And they're not cheap. I've spoken to the guy that is making the new gear. They tested a metal one and it would wear out the other plastic gear it made contact with. Thus, it has to be plastic to plastic...
It does have autoride and the shocks hold air with and without a load without a problem. I'm running Michelins and 40 psi. No visible oil leakage from the shocks. I only have 70K miles on it too. I'm looking into changing the front struts first and see what that does.
Well it's been a week since I ordered the gears and I still have not received them. Let's see how long it takes to get them. Not a good way to start promoting a new item, IMO.....
Your right about the tires. I'm running Michelins, and I hate them. Your supposed to run 50 psi, but they're way too hard at the pressure. The lowest my TP monitor will let me run is 40 without constant reminders. Wish there was a way to lower that, especially in the winter.
Yes, I found out about the rear window problem on my way to Sturgis one year. Kept flapping up from a wind tunnel type of effect. Mine was out of warranty by then so I adjusted the striker for a tighter fit.
