What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

That'll change after the one time you fail to see someone, or someone runs a stop or light and t-bones you while your family is in the car and they all end up in the hospital

I see stop signs are optional in your neck of the woods also

    What engine oil?

Isn't a 10w oil only thicker than a 5w oil when it's cold? The second number is the actual oil weight at running temp (10w-30, 10w-40, etc). So a 10w-30 oil will only be thicker than a 5w-30 oil when it's cold.

    Electric Water Pump

Doesn't the OE tune do that also, disengage the AC compressor under WOT? Shit, the OE tune on my 30 year old mustang did it, lol

    Third BRAKE light stopped working

Probably burnt out. The one on my 2001 has before and the entire red plastic lens/housing gets replaced and just plugs in back behind it

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Years ago to pass a visual we used to hollow out the cats by taking them off and ramming a piece of rebar or pipe into it to break up the honeycomb inside and shake the broken up pieces out. My '33 and '95 don't have cats. They're both old enough to be exempt from emissions, even though the...

But..... don't you get your stickers from a buddy? When was the last smog test you've done? :secret:

My immaculate '95 Tahoe 2-Door- I doubled the horsepower

It sure as hell wouldn't, but according to some it does on Chevys, lol. Truthfully, I don't believe it either and that was a bit of sarcasm mostly towards the people that believe it does. Clean rig! What did they give you for it?

Not you though, cuz you know what you got :chewie:

My immaculate '95 Tahoe 2-Door- I doubled the horsepower

I'm surprised you didn't just do a cam and long tube header swap. That alone is supposed to add 200hp to a Chevy engine

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Add a bottle or two of HEET (those yellow bottles) into a gallon of washer fluid. HEET contains methanol, which is what is added to the winter mix 20 below washer fluid. I run a meth injection system on my supercharged mustang and to get about a 50/50 mix of water/meth I start with 20 below...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Where do you live? I've never had a vehicle with heated washer fluid. I always run - 20* fluid and have never had a problem with it freezing.

Changing flat tire, lug nut removal?

I wasn't serious. It was a bit of sarcasm vaguely referencing another recent similar thread talking about spare tires

Changing flat tire, lug nut removal?

Why worry about it, get a AAA membership. They're everywhere and will be there within minutes with dozens of sized spare tires, one sure to fit your vehicle. Let them do the work

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

How often do you have to renew the plates/registration? Here is every 2 years, and you have to have a recent (within 30 days) inspection in the system if renewing online or paper if in person. Also have to have the past 2 years of personal property taxes paid which they look up in their system.

Shops refusing to disassemble magneride strut

Which setup is that? Those thin Harbor Freight one's will bend and those little pins that are supposed to hold the spring in the hook only fit smaller diameter springs. The one I used is much more beefier and has a safety ring that connects to both sides and keeps them from rotating on the...

Shops refusing to disassemble magneride strut

Definitely don't use those Harbor Freight ones linked above. They aren't heavy duty enough for truck springs. When I did mine, I put the strut in my bench vise and used a spring compressor kit like this from Amazon BILITOOLS 2-Piece Coil Spring Compressor Tool Heavy Duty Macpherson Strut...

    Diablosport 87 tune

And most importantly, Do Not rely on knock sensors to protect the engine. They don't "predict" knock, they only act when knock is detected, and sometimes that may be too late, damage done. Especially with hyperpathetic pistons. The original 5.0 in my 95 mustang came with hyper pistons. Ford...

Need to Replace Upper Control Arms and Ball Joints

Before starting, put a mark on the cam plates where the pins are. That way when you put it all back together you can get the alignment really close (maybe even within spec)

Need to Replace Upper Control Arms and Ball Joints

Problem with those is that to make adjustments you have to loosen it up quite a bit to lift the cam up over the pin to get to the next hole. With the slot style just losen the nut a bit and turn the bolt with a wrench on the head, done.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Not arguing, just curious about AAA and how they can be everywhere so quickly, and how they can magically fix all flats/blowouts while roadside. I guess if you don't travel much and stay near urban areas it's not a problem. I've only had 1 flat and that was about 8 years ago in the 2001. Wife...

question on using the tranny to slow going down a hill

I know I have a different generation, but I've used tow/haul mode when driving down steep roads and the "powertrain grade braking" does basically the same thing

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Different strokes for different folks. Nice to know there's a nice shiny AAA truck within 30 mins from anywhere in the USA though, that's worth the annual fee. What if your tire can't be fixed with a plug and air, is the truck stocked with multiple sizes of wheels/tires to get you back on the...
