interesting you didn't find many in the filter as the pan. i hope you have time to take a look at the motor when you get it out. id have to go back and look but if it's a aluminum 6.2 it might be worth something if it's not damaged to badly.
hopefully the new motor is solid. any plans for it...
those new ones look like good gaskets to me. oem MLS type, the ones on the engine definitely aren't and seem to be leaking. I'm a bit supised you couldn't hear it, but carbon doesn't lie. gotta be leaking some.
as for the gaskets. I do not know if you can replace the gaskets without...
ouch.. is that all aluminum? wow.
any chance you have the oil filter still to cut open? I got into the habit it cutting my filters open to take a peak to look for signed it wear. so far I haven't found any yet thou.
dielectric on the boots and keep the metal heat shields on and I've never pulled one out. I do have the special pliers too thou?
just twist them to break the seal and pull while wiggling. haven't broken one on an ls, I don't think ever. pulled some out of the old sbc cheap wires thou.
I...
been around cars basically my entire life and never once hard someone say don't replace the oil pump on a high mileage engine or it could blow up. that's a new one on me.
there's a old wives tail about don't change tranny fluid if it's never been done on a high mileage tranny. but that's all...
the new oil pump in a high mileage engine is no issue. but also they don't fail very often either. did they do the o ring? they do fail sometimes.
the oil pressure gauge flickering around is probably the sensor. it's pretty common. it's usually suggested to use only oem from a known vendor...
should just be a few mA of current to close the relay contacts. the starter solenoid is grounded thru the block. the wire will be fine as long as it doesn't short something else out from rubbing on a positive tab. but I doubt that bubble is from a trace burning out. they always discolor the...
I didn't look up the codes. but just as info, if you mean your torque converter is locking and unlocking a lot. I've heard of it being a brake light switch. it you touch the brake it unlocks the converter. so if the switch is intermittent it can cause it to lock and unlock
you might not think you're a mechanic but this is better trouble shooting than most mechanics can do these days.
definitely add a ground to the relay and see if it all works, if so you might consider picking up a new fuse box at a junk yard. Just incase it starts having issues to other relays...
it is a bit sad every newer Gen of ls/lt gets worst fuel mileage and is less reliable than the one before it.
the trucks do get heavier and they do make a bit more hp but they aren't actually any faster. glorified mini vans is all 90% of them get used as while getting 12mpg. haha.
those are for when you replace the afm style lifters with standard lifters. at that point there's no need to vent oil.
I did mine as preventive maintenance. got it at 135k and turned it off in the tune with hptuners on the drive home and did the pressure block and gasket clips as soon as I...
yeah, he's got a video showing clipping the gasket. I did mine, so as I understand it when the vlom solenoids are closed and not supplying oil down the hole to release the lifter, they are vented to allow oil that comes from around the lifter bore to not build up pressure. if that vent becomes...
did you happen to clip the gasket around the holes leading down to the lifters? that vents any oil pressure thst might build up in there and release the lifter.
they sell o2 sensor tap. I've got one I use just to clean up threads after welding a bung in.
of that doesn't work, a new exhaust manifold is probably the easiest way to go. you could possibly weld it up and add a new bung, but if it's cast iron welding that is very hard and replacement...
unless you've changed stuff like a cam, or atleast exhaust. vvt won't do much for you but if you want a rabbit hole to go down, there's some new techniques to tune maf and vvt at the same time. I have watched some videos of it, but haven't tried it yet. some good stuff thou but lots of setup to...
I used this stuff on my warranty replacement headlights because the first set sun ate them up. Tony above pointed me to this. seems to be amazing stuff.
I didn't need the remover spray since they wren new. Just the sealer, and then ppf install over that.
I did play with the Yellow remover on...
