Its doable. I put them on my engine in 2018. Its still going strong. Here's a post w/pics I did:

its a totally normal sounding LS to me.
I currently have 3 vehicles with LS engines.
07 Denali w/gen4 6.2L L92 w/197k/miles
02 Corvette w/gen3 5.7L LS1 w/74k miles
51 Chevy PU w/gen4 5.3L LY5 w/10k miles
I don't know what "silverfish" is???
I installed new fuel pump and level sender. No change. Inside of tank was clean.
Ohmed the old sender and the graph was smooth.
Local shop loaned me a good used cluster. No change. Fuel gauge in loaner cluster acts wonky too.
Local shop thinks there a bad ground or chafted wire somewhere since I've already changed the fuel pump/sender module.
I ohmed my old sender thru its range of motion and it looked good/linear, no...
???
I have a stock ls1 powered c5. I'm on all the c5 corvette FB groups and forums. I read constantly about them over heating when stop and go driving their ls1 powered c5 vette.
I've never seen my transmission temp above 210. But I don't do any stop a go driving or towing. My engine temp never goes above 210*f on the gauge.
We use the Denali in extreme conditions. 110* TX, NM heat, and -20* cold in the winter CO mtns.
Replacing the fuel sender/pump module in the tank didn't fix my fuel gauge with a mind of its own. So today I removed the instrument cluster from the dash and will take it to a local shop tomorrow to see if they can fix it (maybe a bad driver). Maybe even get it customized :)
