Why the switch to big rims?

I think you'll find the marketing guys did marketing surveys and discovered they could make more money by offering larger wheels, which are "trendy". Apparently they were right. Look how much extra they get for 22s on a new vehicle. We can argue that they improve performance...well, they...

Why the switch to big rims?

My tahoe only has 18s, but they're still lower profile tires than I have on my Corvette! (it's a 1962 with 15" wheels)

10 speed question, column shifter, is it mechanically shifting the transmission?

my ten speed has buttons, no column shifter. If you want to find out, look under the truck, see if there's a mechanical linkage. It would stick out the side, just above the pan rail, near the front. I doubt it.

Anyone uses PIAA wipers on 2021+? What model # of PIAA fit 21+?

AC Delco has not been OEM parts for a long time now... My 22 is a year and a half old, but it gets parked inside most of the time. And not under trees. That probably helps keep the wipers working great

Anyone uses PIAA wipers on 2021+? What model # of PIAA fit 21+?

I'm learning all kinds of new stuff..... it takes two adapters to make an aftermarket wiper blade fit a new car. I guess I'll stick with OEM, and be thankful I live somewhere cold where they last for a long time.

first thing I did when we moved to our new house a few years ago was take all the mancave crap out of the garage, and park the cars in it.

    Tahoe Front wheel Spats

you're talking about this thing that sticks down? If so, you can just cut it off if you're so inclined. They don't bother me. Just kind of blends in with the whole silly modern front end styling.

    Quality Control

heh....my sentiment comes from just getting back from a 2500 mile trip in my Chevy II, which has been on the cover of Hot Rod magazine. The trip I went on is called Death Week. Yeah, it included crossing Death Valley, along with 4 days of drag racing, and a bunch of other stuff. Cars are made...

    Quality Control

you need to go on an off road weekend adventure, get the darn thing broke in, and all these minor imperfections will just disappear. :) (hell, it's a Z71, that means it's supposed to get beat to shit as part of normal use)

    Extended Warranty?

I guess as a tech you would not see the people who it didn't save money (those who bought the warranty, but did not need repairs under it)...and there are more of them, eh? :)

    Extended Warranty?

I guess we're all in different situations, and have had different experiences. I've never bought an extended warranty, and on the older trucks (99, 08, 12) never had any issues that would have been covered by an extended warranty. But then I also know how to fix stuff, and my wife and I are very...

    Extended Warranty?

Now that cars are more like phones, it might be wise to look at them the same way as far as "upgrades"....after a few years go by, it's time to get a new one, no matter what condition the old one is in.

New '23 LS bare bones&and some questions

I ordered a 22 LS with one option (integrated trailer brakes) in summer 22, it took less than two months to be delivered. Cost 58k out the door. Have over 15k miles on it now, it's been working pretty well. I put a reminder (Stick-it note) near the shifter to remind me to push the Auto start...
