Yet another reason to keep driving an older vehicle....

"Security". The word often invoked by corporations to force consumers to use their service for maintenance or basic functionality. Although I love their products, this is the same excuse Apple uses to stop people from installing apps on iPhones that don't come from the Apple App Store...

Problems With New Engines And How It Is Handled

If money is no object, I would try and locate a 2021 or 2022 Toyota Sequoia. Normally aspirated V8 engine. Good for at least 300,000 trouble free miles. The Sequoia design was ruined starting with the 2023 model because of the hybrid battery. Not only expensive to change, this massive battery...

Tinted front windows - Can it get removed?

Any tint shop can take it off. As someone that has had skin cancer, all of my vehicles are tinted. The best window tinting to stop UVA is Permaplate by Xpel.

How to know if oil has been changed at dealership

It is very common for them to forget to reset the oil life monitor. I change my oil every 3000 miles so it's difficult to tell visually.

    2025 Order Guide Availability

I would be careful. You may be forced into a hybrid. Verify that the 2025 model is not hybrid.

    Considering a 24 or 25 Tahoe/Yukon or Suburban

I have owned both. I've owned many suburbans, Tahoes, and a Toyota Sequoia. You'll find the Toyota to be more reliable. The problem is that the Sequoia went to a hybrid version which I did not want. I'm now driving a new Tahoe that I like, once I permanently disabled the engine stop-start and...

Newish GMT800 'Burb Owner from SF Bay Area

When you posted that picture, it's no longer a secret location. I thought SUVs were illegal in California.

Copper Clad Aluminum wire on an auxiliary battery installation

If you have a choice, I would definitely go with pure copper.

2025 Escalade to no longer diesel engine option

Strongly recommend that you buy a gas powered 2024 model. Chances are in 2025 everything will be hybrid despite the fact that most people don't want one.

Buy a New 2024 Yukon or Tahoe or wait til 25s

I'm afraid you have the obsolete idea that newer equals better. In many cases it does not. In 2025 you'll probably find yourself forced into a hybrid which most people do not want. If you like the 24 model buy it now.

Help me decide (keep current or get new)

I would buy new. But you must VERIFY any new GM vehicle has Apple CarPlay. Some do, some don't. It can be difficult to sell a vehicle without Apple CarPlay. Look, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things, but I positively hate that black mat paint job. I hate it so much...

If you didnt have a Yukon/Suburban/Escalade, what would be your next choice?

I'm in the same boat. GM no longer has Apple CarPlay. You couldn't GIVE me one without Apple CarPlay. I'd be tempted by Toyota. Toyota also has "DRL off" right on the light switch.

Should I be hesitant to buy a 2023 Yukon Denali Ultimate?

Just VERIFY it has Apple CarPlay. Some GM vehicles do not. They can be difficult to resell without Carplay. I would not hesitate. Any vehicle with a normally aspirated V8 engine that is not a hybrid is in very high demand. Get one while you can.

    Aftermarket radio/amp issues

I like Kenwood. Just verify that it has Apple CarPlay. It's hard to give away a vehicle that doesn't have Apple CarPlay.

2009 hybrid tahoe w/ 140k miles....... or 2014 tahoe lt w/ 170k miles... which would you take?

The hybrid battery is likely overdue to be replaced. 5 to 7 years is typical. Find out what a new battery costs. I don't like hybrids in general, but use ones are even worse.

Has anyone received an OTA update in 2024?

I NEVER do ANY software updates unless I'm having a definite problem and I SPECIFICALLY KNOW that update will address that problem. When Apple has an update for my Mac, you can click on a link, and it will detail EVERY single thing that update does. General Motors does not do this. I have NEVER...

    It’s here

Unlikely you can ever get 200,000 miles on a modern GM engine.

    It’s here

Your vehicle is similar to mine. Here's what I did on the first couple of days of ownership. Engine auto stop-start, permanently disabled. Daytime Running Lights, permanently disabled (dealer did this in 5 minutes). Automatic door locking disabled. Removed all things Google to the maximum...

    Android Auto won't connect wirelessly

I had a similar problem, but gave up. When I switched to iPhone, everything began to work. Apple CarPlay working perfectly.

I wouldn't take a diesel vehicle if it was given to me for FREE. I'm much prefer gasoline.

I permanently disconnected that equipment on the second day of ownership. I did not wait for GM to take action.

    Buyer Beware - Don't Buy a Yukon

I would put most of the blame on the "new 2021" EPA. They're forcing auto manufacturers to use ultra complicated technology in order to squeeze out another 1/10 MPG. People who have the know-how disable some of these features in order to dramatically improve engine life. I own a Tahoe, and I...

    2023 Tahoe Premier Oil selection

As long as the vehicle is under warranty, only have the oil changed at the dealership. If you have a problem with the engine, they will work hard to deny the warranty.
