What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Which is why I said it was a very time consuming job. Not big on the difficulty scale but big on the time consuming scale and can be up there on the frustration scale if things start to break off.

Yanking everything out is no small task the way everything is held together with crappy plastic clips these days. You're bound to break a few tabs in the process.

    Autel MaxSys scanner questions

What did you order and whom did you order it from? I am in the market for a Tech 2 and I want to get one that will work well for my GMT900. Especially since I may end up getting a Silverado or Sierra of the same generation in a few months.

    Towing stability

Any suspension that is worn out will not handle well, especially with a load. Have you driven a properly maintained Tahoe with the Z55 suspension? My Yukon exhibits none of the excessive roll or bounce that you mention, and neither does the 2009 Silverado 1500 that my sister owns. But both...

How accurate is the scale indicator and how long do they generally last? That looks like a real handy hitch.

    Towing stability

Tongue weight is very important to prevent trailer sway. The others that have mentioned having plenty of weight on the tongue, but not too much, are spot on. I have a Class A CDL but I have not used it for work for over 2 decades, I keep my CDL current - just in case. And with the antique cars...

The rest of the wheel looks shabby compared to the caps. Time to repaint the wheels.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

My 1926 is taller than my 1929. By 1929 cars started getting a little lower than the really old, tall passenger compartments and overall profile. My 1929 Pierce Arrow is very heavy, coming in about 5,000lbs on a 143" wheelbase so it will be on the ground while my 1926 Rickenbacker is taller but...

I plan on getting a 4 post lift installed in my garage once I move. I need to make sure my new garage/workshop has high enough ceilings for one and I need to make sure I get a lift that will go up high enough to drive a stock 1920's automobile under it.

First long trip I took in mine was a 1,200 mile road trip from CA to WY. Other than trying to squeeze 20mpg out of the beast, it was a joy to drive on that long trip. Our Yukon stayed in WY since that was the first step in moving to WY permanently.

Those plastic T fittings are pure *****. I have not proactively replaced mine yet but I will in the Spring.

If only we had a 100 percent icon we could use for posts like this. I wouldn't dream of owning any Chrysler product newer than 1970, and even that is pushing it. Prewar would be better.

It's tough to find honest shops these days. There is a local shop that is very honest. Step son picked up a used car and took it in for an alignment, it was still in spec so they didn't charge him a dime. Just called and told him to pick it up.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I picked up my Yukon with 113k miles on the clock and the only HVAC button that had any wear was the power button. Mine seems to work OK, but not as nicely as the auto climate controls in my 2017 Kia Optima. My Optima is truly 'set it and forget it' year round. The Optima seems to be pretty...

    Brake Pad Monitor

As long as they can source the parts it shouldn't be difficult to replace the wear sensor. The big question is if you need a Tech 2 to reset the display, if it resets automatically with a new sensor, you can reset it like you would your tripometer, or an advanced ODB II tool would be needed.

5.3 Guys, opinion on oil change intervals

I have changed my own oil for over 40 years and I will continue to do so as long as I'm able. All of my cars, except for the antique ones, get an oil change at 3k or 5k miles with full synthetic and Wix XP filters. Even my PHEV which only has the engine running half the time gets a 5k mile oil...

    Brake Pad Monitor

That system is very similar to what BMW has used for years. The pad thickness sensor is also a wear item and must be replaced when you change your brake pads.

The cheapest license plate renewal I have is $178. That is for a car that is 95 years old. It is also what it costs to renew the reg on a 2002 Nissan that I still have. When I picked up my Yukon last summer, Calif DMV tagged me around $1,400 for tax, license and fees. When I registered it in...
