@mattbta I got the VCX Nano in from VXDIAG. Wondering about returning it, I cannot figure out how to get PCM hammer to connect to it.
The tool came with software but instructions are dismally bad. They don't match any of the folders, no auto installer, etc. etc. etc. I think that aside I got it...
Thanks @Tonyrodz I started building the Hands Free Calling and Bluetooth connection to stereo. Then life got the best of me :/ I think I have a thread somewhere for it. I'm a real estate broker by day, former consultant in aerospace industry, and really would love to get to what I actually went...
@mattbta that's awesome. I use HP Tuners quite a lot. Years ago I built my own adapters for ALDL / OBD1. It was a lot simpler then. I was even working to hack the older ECMs. I wrote a bunch of code to do it. I had no clue about PCM Hammer or Tuner Pro. Really cool stuff. I probably should have...
@mattbta I contacted OBDx and asked them they said I could clone a PCM with PCM hammer and their adapter supports it. Further research looks like the OBDx adapter is more versatile, supports more protocols. However, I went ahead and bought the VCX Nano for the included Tech 2 Win license. Thanks...
@mattbta oh cool, yeah I spotted the VCX Nano on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/VXDIAG-Multiple-TIS2WEB-Diagnostic-Programming/dp/B01NACTAY8
Not sure if this works the same way? It has both Bluetooth and USB https://obdxpro.com/product/obdx-pro-gt-obd2-diagnostics-and-tuning/
Guy at junkyard...
@rockola1971 you're quite possibly the internet's best kept secret when it comes to working on vehicles! Dang thanks for the tip. Curious, what's the thing about a Tech 2? Is it simply a bi-directional scan tool or something fancier / custom?
I couldn't sleep last night so was up till 2 AM...
My first assumption was the same as @NickTransmissions transmission isn't locking up after gear shift. Closely monitor your fluid and transmission temp if you have gauge for that. Heat kills transmissions.
In my opinion, what happens over time, is the valve body wears out especially if fluid...
This actually isn't for my Truck but think it's the same process regardless. It's for my 1999 C5 Corvette. I think the PCM is shot (bench test isn't passing long story).
I am going to buy another PCM I know I can either (1) buy from somebody who can program VIN or (2) buy license for PCM I buy...
Dang I get a sense of what you did from your photo but cannot exactly see. You grounded where the red BAT box was before. Would be easier that reaching down to the side of the block. My mind wonders why they made the chassis ground in such a precarious place (front drive body mount / core...
It just dawned on me, I'm going about this the wrong way.
My buddy had a Volkswagen Beatle. Basket of worms that car, but aside from that. I noticed it had a terminal block. All the systems connecting to Battery+ under the hood were routed through a terminal block, kind of like that red box...
Gotchya, I see the post extenders. Those will work for time being. I kind of hate all the extra hoopla on the cables. I like a nice clean crimped setup.
You've not had any issues with heating at the solder joints? From what I understand current travels on surface of conductor, is why battery...
Awesome thanks @Tonyrodz
I'm sitting here kind of amazed. It looks as though one person did this Big 3 Upgrade and everybody online copied it then made tutorials off it. I may need to come up with a custom way to do this so it's proper fitment for our trucks. It appears as though people are...
I think I may need to convert to a top post style. I cannot for the life of me find the factory style crimp connectors for several 0 Gauge wires. Most all the tutorials I'm seeing leave quite a lot to be desired with their custom battery / charging cables.
This is probably on the forum somewhere but I cannot find it. I need to buy crimp terminals for big three upgrade. Specifically this:
GROUNDS: Engine block and chassis grounds replaced, need to splice them together and have a single terminal to battery post (side post)
Battery Positive: I...
If I had unlimited budget (kind of like my engine build haha) I'd have tons of the Baseline Overland stuff... Your rig looks killer :)
My trick to budgets... don't add up until project is done. Then cry haha
Dang dude! Love the stance of your truck. What size wheels and tires are those? From looks of your previous pictures you're not lifted...?
Also I LOVE the baseline overland stuff. However, darn you must be rich! Their stuff is super spendy! I've been considering modifying the factory bumper on...
@Rocket Man does the GMT800 chassis have some sort of alignment marks or pins so the windshield will go on straight? I think I get only one attempt to "squish" the new bead of urethane when I'm installing the windshield.
Thanks everybody... Really appreciate the conversation and help :)
I'm going to give away what I'd never do again haha...
1. Changing tires w/ tire iron. I cracked a rim. Might be feasible with a commuter car, however, no way with aluminium rims and 10 ply / load E tires. Then I tried a...
So I hand built (myself) a custom 2500 ton drivetrain for my Tahoe. Honestly, the most financially sound decision would have been not to do any of it. That aside, $380 at my current income is easily a weeks work in a normal year. This year it's two months work no joke. Business is dismal and I'm...
@Mean_Green darn I'll have to check into that! I didn't know regaurdless they might cover a windshield. Brings me to bit of an off topic. I may want to upgrade my insurance to full coverage but not sure. I have about $15,000 into upgrades in the truck and my labor doing them. My catastrophe...
I'll ask the glass company I do business with at work about a windshield although last two I bought were $300+ unless I got a cheaper glass which was under $200. It's my understanding that factory glass is some of the best?
I've been studying up on it, the hardness part so far looks to be...
If anybody has installed glass before knows part number compatibility let me know. I cannot seem to find a catalogue to show what years have the same windshield.
