    Chrome nerf bars

Use ATF/Gas mixed 50/50, or get a can of AeroKroil from a local HVAC supply house instead of PB Blaster. PB is just about useless according to independent comparative tests done my ProjectFarm and AvE on YouTube, and my own experience. Other than that - at least if they break you aren't planning...

    4l80e Rattles While Coasting

And here's the resolution! So there was in fact a very bad universal joint - half the cap on one side was missing. While pulling the driveshaft I realized - wow, transfer case sure does move a lot for something that isn't supposed to move at all. Turns out the extension housing on the back of...

    4l80e Rattles While Coasting

Minor update - couldnt help myself, crawled under the truck after I got home this evening to poke around. One hell of a bad universal joint - no needles left in two caps. I've had a bunch of bad u-joints - a few this bad - but none this bad this drove smooth down the interstate at 80. I'll grab...

    4l80e Rattles While Coasting

I will drop the pan and go from there. Hopefully figure out where the leak is coming from and check the rear end while I've got it up as well. I certainly wouldn't mind if it was the rear end - easier install and I have another 14 bolt. I appreciate it. I did, after letting it make the sound...

    4l80e Rattles While Coasting

Thanks gentlemen! I took a quick video. Truth be told it sounds like a parking pawl trying to engage when you're rolling. Intermittent engagement issue after shifting to drive and starting to pull out. Had an old dodge with a tired 727 that you'd have to rev up after it was in drive to get it to...

    4l80e Rattles While Coasting

@NickTransmissions thought about messaging you directly to see if you had any input, but I'll post this publicly to improve the public information pool. Hey all! I've just picked up another gmt800 3/4 ton with a 6.0/4l80e. 216k miles on it. Seems to have lived a hard life, but this is just a...

    Leveling kit and spindle lift?

More than welcome, ask away if you have any more questions.

    Leveling kit and spindle lift?

Yep, those would be the right setup if that's what you prefer, but there's no real benefit to using a longer shock over a shock tab extension in your setup. Explanation : if someone were to do lift spindles, but then install a lift UCA and longer front shocks it would make the shock too long...

    Leveling kit and spindle lift?

No worries at all, better to ask than not. With a 2wd truck, you aren't going to get anywhere that a lift spindle won't take you and there's no reason a lift spindle wouldn't handle off roading well. You'll also gain some height with taller tires. Those shocks are a lot longer than stock - for...

    Leveling kit and spindle lift?

    Yes, that's correct.

    Leveling kit and spindle lift?

On a 2wd truck you are better off with a lift spindle because it keeps all your suspension geometry factory. You will be able to retain factory control arms, and will not even need a longer shock or shock extension in the front - only in the rear. Torsion keys on the other hand would require...

    Leveling kit and spindle lift?

You may want to get shock extensions for the rear as well so you are not topping your shocks out when the suspension cycles.

    Leveling kit and spindle lift?

Really all depends on how high you want to go. Personally I'd just do the spindle and a 3" rear block to level it out.

    Torsion bar weight rating upgrade

Brake fluid? I've heard of acetone/oil or acetone/transmission fluid - not brake fluid. Only way is to just keep hammering. A lot easier when it's up on a lift over your head. 4# hammer and a steel bar on the back side. They can be a real booger sometimes.

    Panhard/Trackbar Bracket broken mount

Agreed. Having a hard time telling from the pictures, but some combination of welding and possibly additional metal will fix that. Drive easy in the mean time.

    Ah, ok. Understood. Thanks!

[Off Topic] GMT800s with Flat Beds

Interesting - where is the extra length at? Assuming both are, say, single cab 8' bed.

[Off Topic] GMT800s with Flat Beds

Not exactly sure what you mean. There were a variety of wheelbase available for each "weight" ranging between single cab/crew cab and 8'/6' bed. My particular truck is a crew cab 6' bed model. Essentially my plan is just to continue using it as my work truck, and doing double duty as a family...

[Off Topic] GMT800s with Flat Beds

The 3d printed version of my design so far. Thinking I am going to modify to make the headache rack removable, and I'm going to have a reinforces steel plate on each corner - one for a vice, and the other to be able to add/remove a small bed crane as needed.

[Off Topic] GMT800s with Flat Beds

Bradford seem to be the most common beds around here on cattle trucks. Nice looking beds. Thank you!

[Off Topic] GMT800s with Flat Beds

Lots of flat beds around here as well, mostly cattle farmers. I'm an electrician primarily who does some wrenching as well as fabrication on the side. Yes, there are frame differences. My design is going off of the dimensions of my frame. Yep, 6.0/Nv4500 2500HD. I want bed side toolboxes, but...

[Off Topic] GMT800s with Flat Beds

Hey all! Curious if any of you have pictures of single rear wheel GMT800 trucks with flat beds? I'm in the process of designing one for my work truck and I'm looking for inspiration. I'm making a CAD design that I'll 3d print and take to a couple local fab shops for quotes to assess if it's...

    WWYD

225k isn't bad - these are very reliable vehicles. I've got two GMT800s over 300k right now, neither had been cared for particularly well. I've got one at 265k and gaining - has taken a lot of work recently, but due to new parts failure; not old age. I like these vehicles and keeping them on...

Pitman shaft leak, now no left assist

I'd probably pop it open and see, but I second that I'd probably throw in a used or reman box. As for hydroboost brakes... I would 100% mail you a vacuum brake booster to trade you for your hydroboost booster. I love my hydroboost brakes.

Rear End swap help years compatability

Ok, this will be my last response because this doesn't feel like a very constructive conversation. I've agreed repeatedly that a deeper gear would be better, but there is no arguing that a 3.08 rear end isn't servicable because ... they do work, even if not optimal. Anything further is just...
