Trailblazer torque converter with a 5.3?

I used one for a core for a converter I had rebuilt. My rebuilder told me they have issues with heat behind the v8s in a truck application, so he always recommends a billet front half and he uses some internal parts from the v8 converter to make it more robust. I brought him the trail blazer...

    AC Schrader Valves

Correction - the rubber check ball is actually on the low side of mine. I had to replace this line yesterday myself.

    AC Schrader Valves

Not sure which years have which. Mine are '00 and '02.

    AC Schrader Valves

The high side on both of mine have a rubber check ball, not a schrader valve. Unfortunately it also is of the non-replacable variety. There are two different types; one replaceable and one not.

Question about the TBSS / NNBS intake upgrade

For calculating fuel demand, you want to go by those higher numbers (ie. without accessories or drive train losses) because that is the true power your motor is making. It still has to make the power that is lost through accessories and drivetrain, therefore needs the fuel supply to make that...

How to: EGR Delete, tube block off.

If you leave the EGR valve in place and connected to the wiring harness then there should not be any code thrown at all. The ECM only checks to make sure the valve is there and using the correct amount of power, not that exhaust gases are actually circulating. That said, you should not see any...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I just got this posted up for those who were waiting for some more detail.

How to: EGR Delete, tube block off.

Just a small quick post for those who want to block off their EGR, for those installing headers or whatever else reason. I will give a brief explanation and then just drop a few pictures in. If you wish to block it off at the exhaust manifold as well (not pictured), take a new EGR gasket to use...

How to: '99-'02 TBSS Intake Swap

Here you can see the Corvette fuel filter installed on the later model fuel rails. You can see that I did have to cut the tab between the inlet and the driver's side fuel rail so I could bend the inlet out up just a little bit allowing the filter to fit. While the intake is off the truck, I also...

How to: '99-'02 TBSS Intake Swap

This picture shows two important details. First, I re-used the factory fuel injectors. This prevents the need for custom tuning or adapter harnesses for the injectors. Second, if reusing your original intake manifold bolts as I have, you will need to remove the rubber grommet to make them the...

How to: '99-'02 TBSS Intake Swap

Later than intended, but here we are. This guide is for '99-'02 only - there are some differences in the swap for '03-'07 trucks. Parts you will need are as follows: -TBSS or '07-'14 Intake Manifold, obviously. Make sure you get a cathedral port intake manifold, not a square port intake off of...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I'll make a post later with some pictures detailing the swap over in the engines section. EDIT: I have not forgotten, just been busy. Will make the post in the next few days.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Hard to tell. I did it at the same time as a completely fresh motor with a different cam. My combo, way better than before, but hardly an A - B test. Lots of folks out there claim a significant improvement though.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Just completed the swap - don't need adapters for either. You can get a basic 92mm fly-by-cable throttle body on ebay with IAC and TPS, and you can use your original injectors as long as you use the '07-up fuel rails. C5 Vette return style fuel filter is a necessary addition. Still not a free...

Ok so i have a huge dilemma......i need opinions from everyone!

I'm going to stay out of the legal and philosophical discussion here - but do some research on the "Vermont Loophole". You should be able to get a title for the one without a title since it's older than 15 years.

Squeaks and Creeks after Leveling Kit…

Did you settle the suspension before tightening up the bolts thru all the bushings? If you tightened them while it was still up in the air then all the bushings are bound up, may be the cause of your issue. Also, did you grease those ball joints and tie rod ends?

    3.42 with 35s?

4.30s are available. That would be my choice if doing a lot of highway driving. If only some highway driving, then 4.56 would be the way to go. I liked 4.56s a lot with the 35s on my NNBS. Aero drag still has less effect than RPM. I saw a 2 mpg difference highway driving between 3.73s and 4.56s...

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

I tell you, both welder and roof are complete game changers. Especially the welder - well worth the $175 or so to get started. Pays back 100 times over. The garage belongs to my folks. I do a lot of maintenance for them and get free use in return. Filled a giant hole that was left when I left...

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

Yep, good core. Already a 6.0, so it'll become a 6.6l (408) stroker down the road.

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

Last update - she's in and running. Went ahead and did the TBSS intake with a 92mm throttle body while I had it apart again. Still some tuning to do, but I'm very happy. Did have a heart attack moment when I first started it. Only read 25# of oil pressure. I had replaced the sending unit, broke...

I hope I bought the right parts

You'll definitely still squat with the spacers; spacers will have no effect on spring rate. You'll just start squatting 2" higher than you would have without. Sounds like you're on the right track. Good luck!

I hope I bought the right parts

Only because the rear end will be squatted. You'll be less likely to bottom the shocks out. That is, of course, only if the Monroe's you mentioned to in fact have a greater extended length than factory. They're a bit quieter in my experience, last a long time (I got 65k out of a set that was...

    Good grease gun?

I use red anywhere I expect to see water - slip yokes are a good example. Moly lithium most other places such as ball joints, wheel bearings, etc. Cheap grease anywhere frequently serviced, anywhere I apply by hand such as when used for an anti-corrosive, to lube seals as an assembly aid, etc...

I hope I bought the right parts

None of my lifted GMs shake going down the highway. The parts listed should work out fine. I think you're right on the shock choice - particularly if towing, the shorter shock will be better. BFG is a good tire. If you haven't already, also look at the Falken AT3W. I much prefer them to the...
