    Good grease gun?

What type of grease you use also has an effect on how much it leaks. I notice more sweat from red grease vs a thick moly lithium grease for example. This will also vary some brand of brand. Y'all with your fancy grease guns are wild. I just go grab the cheapie pistol grip jobber from Rural King.

A couple of tips for using exhaust manifold clamps

Exhaust bolts are pretty much the only bolts that I always antiseize. ARP always comes with washers so you have a consistent mating surface for the bolt head to ride on making sure you reach a proper torque spec ... Or at least making it more likely. I always replace exhaust manifold bolts...

    I'm about done...

4l60e pump housing will sometimes not fully seal around the cavity leading to the vent tube causing fluid to get pushed out. This is the only spot in the tranny I will use RTV, and sparingly. Just enought to seal around that cavity. Not all shops do the same.

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

True there! It's all documented, but there's no recourse - seller has not responded to any of my messages about being simply compensated for the bad injectors. This one will go down under "Lessons, Bought and Paid For" unfortunately.

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

All right guys, been a few days but I finally got back to the truck. Got the motor out this morning and started pulling it apart. Flex plate is good. Confirmed bent rod, sitting about .075" lower in the bore than the other 7. Ignore the silicon around the intake ports - I know LS gaskets don't...

I need my 01 Yukon xL 5.3 louder but not ear piercing

I've run a lot of mufflers. Most of them on the market. For the price, and level of noise I like any more (not a lot, just enough) I really like the FlowMaster FlowFX series.

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

Already would have for any of our other vehicles, but this one I need to be back to 100% ASAP, and not have any doubt in it. This is my work truck that I rely on every day, only one in the fleet that gets "the royal treatment".

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

Oh, I tune all my vehicles. Bought HPTuners years ago. The 6.0 will just get replaced with a reman 6.0 for now to get back on the road quick, but I'll keep the old motor for a core for a future project. Thanks!

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

All right, that's what I was afraid of. I'll definitely check the flex plate as you mentioned. Looks like I'll have a good core to build a stroker motor.... Thanks for the input gentlemen.

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

Ah! Didn't even think about flex plate. I will certainly inspect that. And yes, the engine did not actually start. Felt like it tried to light off before it was stopped, but... Obviously didn't. However, do you have a theory for why the compression would be showing so much lower on the cylinder...

Hydraulic'd engine - bent valve or bent conn rod?

Hey all! Hopefully one of you can chime in and confirm or deny my diagnosis. 2002 6.0. Just installed a ton of new parts - heads, cam, lifters.... Injectors.... Allegedly "genuine" AC Delco Made in Germany. Well upon closer inspection after the fact, they shipped from China. Fake Delco...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yep! Long tubes are better in every aspect except packaging. And cost, of course. You're welcome!

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Easy install and I already had a set. I still have the factory exhaust anyway and it's in great shape. While I would've loved the bump in low end from the long tubes, just wasn't necessary right now to spend the money and go through the effort, especially when I didn't have a better muffler to...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Not Tahoe content exactly, but figured you guys would still appreciate it. Buttoning up my '02 Silverado 2500. 6.0 just went down for major overhaul/maintenance. New motor mounts, cam, lifters, hardened pushrods, head studs, refreshed 862 heads, rockers with improved trunion, stainless shorty...

Used engine flush, now rear main seal leaking.

The flush did not damage the seal, but it did uncover that it was worn. I am personally anti engine flush. Breaking free stuck on gunk that is not currently causing any issues can have no good come from it. At best, parts you will never see "look" cleaner. At worst, you uncover seal issues like...

    Strange Valance

Wow. Didn't even know aftermarket valences were made to attach to the factory bumper. Looked it up and there are a couple options. Didn't see that one. I'd genuinely be interested in a more high tucked version. I see guys run no valence for more clearance but not a fan of the look.

If your shocks are good, you can simply get shock extensions. Probably the route I'd go either way because lift shocks can be quite a bit more expensive than stock length.

    Better Brakes?

The biggest and most important thing you can do is adjust your driving style while towing. I [should, but] don't have trailer brakes on any of my vehicles. I've had 9-10k lbs behind my Tahoe. Same with my NNBS I just sold. In was always more impressed by the NBS brakes than the NNBS brakes...

Brake pedal goes to floor after I start the engine

You can jump the ABS relay to bleed thru the module on some vehicles. Have actually never tried on my Tahoe, but certainly worth a shot.

Don't know the year, but those wheels look sharp on that Tahoe!

Inspect your brake calipers if you have a g80 rear axle

Same boat. The shop I managed was $150/hr, but that's high for my region. North of dealer prices prices which last I checked were $125-140/hr. Owner was hard to talk to about business - had his own ideas about how things worked and not much to back them up - hence why I left. Shop flopped a few...

Inspect your brake calipers if you have a g80 rear axle

Wow. BS like this is why people don't trust mechanics. I'd tell them not to bill one more hour. Hire a tow home or to another shop. $165/hr is ludicrous.

Inspect your brake calipers if you have a g80 rear axle

I done see any fluid loss at the caliper. What your describing sounds more like master cylinder failure. Edit: just read the rest of the thread. Tough break. Odd to see that many parts "fail" at once if everything else was working normally. By my count master cylinder is a $200 part and 2.5...

    Freedom Off-road UCA’s

Got a set on my NNBS, been on there about 4 years. Had great luck with them. They are just Chinese made and then the "Freedom Off road" branding applied, so the no-name that look the same are the same. I have a no name set on my '02 2500 as well, also very pleased.
