    In 4WD or not?

Whether the feeling the front end was in 4WD was real or imagined, I am definitely in 2WD mode now. I think the rumble/grumble I still hear and feel when slowing and braking from certain speeds is one of the CV axles. I may remove them on my next day off (next Friday) to confirm that theory. If...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I had a 12" piece of pine board to cover the back side of our stove that stuck up above the counter to trim it out. I used GE silicone sealer for doors and windows. Twenty years on there holding wood to sheet metal. I had to pry it off with a pry bar. The silicone stayed put and took some of the...

Can I wire in dash cam from double power source?

In response to your original set-up question... I would want to wire a relay (or relays) in with the switch, so that power can only come one way and go out one way. I would want the power to come on with the toggle when the accessory power is on and the reverse trigger is off. I think relays...

Can I wire in dash cam from double power source?

I just installed a Boss Audio radio head unit and Boyo backup cam from Crutchfield. I used their Ready Harness service, where they made up the plug and play harness to plug the new radio in to the factory harness. Worth the $25! Anyway, in the process of consulting with the Crutchfield tech, I...

    In 4WD or not?

I think it might have been stuck even though indicators said otherwise... I put in transmision in N and shifted transfer in and out of 2H a few time then rolled back, put in drive. Steering feels normal. Much more floaty on the steering wheel like before. Vibes on slowing at certain speeds and...

    In 4WD or not?

When I lift one front wheel off the ground at a time with the engine off and transmission in Park and the wheel can still spin freely by hand (not locked up)... It is definitely in 2WD. Am I right in thinking that there is no possible way it could be in 4WD, if I can spin the one tire that is...

Dash Warning Lights for Brakes and Airbags come on randomly

Two main grounds that can cause weird behavior: 1) Main ground to back side of the engine block. 2) Another ground for many of the inside things is located on the driver's side, almost in line with the door hinges it is located between the rocker panel and the chassis. The one under the...

    Tahoe Clunk

I was getting ABS light/chime and codes, then grinding noise. Followed by complete hub failure. If you get any kind of ABS codes, it may be a warning sign for pending hub failure. See what looks like a bearing with the nice ring of roller bearings in the photo? There is supposed to be another...

    Tahoe Clunk

Bearings are part of the hub assembly and the hub assembly is bolted into the steering knuckle. The wheels are secured with the lug nuts onto the hub assembly. Your wheels and tires will not come off if the CV axle is removed. They will stay on just fine.

Which OBD Scanner is optimal to scan GM

The older GM may not be transmit enough data to scan tools like the Autel to run tests at all levels in one operation... Having to test one function at a time might be a result of that communication throughput limitation. You can buy the Tech 2 scan tool. Original can be found used (sometimes)...

    Remote start for 2003 Yukon

Yeah... Avital must be one of the main suppliers of remotes for aftermarket alarm systems. Several of the ones I had recently all had Avital fobs. Which makes sense. If I were a company making alarm/remote start systems... Why would I want to waste my time and resources come up with my own...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Boyo back-up cam from Crutchfield installed yesterday. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_707VTL17IR/Boyo-VTL17ir.html I put a crimp-on fork terminal connector on the ground wire on the back end of the harness. I slipped the flat connector under the metal clip that the screw holding the tail light...

Cadillac Ride on a 3/4 Ton Truck?

Go with the smallest rims you can find. Not sure what that would be for a 2500 series 8 lug... But smaller rim allows taller sidewalls on the tires (example: side wall of 33x12 tire on 17 inch rim is much taller than a 33x12 on a 20 inch rim). Taller side wall gives more "cushion" between you...

    More Electrical Fun (not!)

It starts, runs and drives OK? It is just the accessories/windows/cluster that are not responding? Have you probed the tops of the fuses to see if any fuses are blown out? I know you don't want to go wire by wire, but checking on the test points on top of the fuses is easy and fast to do.

SOLVED - Automatic climate control/Blower Motor

Yup. It does... Like the passenger side rear parking brake cable I thought was so simple, I never took a photo of the before. When it came to attach the cable to the actuator... Fuel Composition Sensor (P0178) - SOLVED

Yeah... Sorry about that comment about being relatively inexpensive! I don't have FF. I was curious, so I took a quick peek on the interweb and the first things that popped up were like $100. But for AC Delco... I guess one and done is not terrible for the $371. NTK was $13 more. Not sure...

Intermittent dead battery in the AM ! '04

From what I have seen, bad grounds might be one of the top 10 battery drain factors. Bad ground connections can prevent things like the BCM from turning things off fully after the designated programmed amount of time. Things like radio/HVAC and others are allowed to 'sleep' but don't fully shut off.
