Hide amplifier under console? Where to run power wires?

Speaking from my own experience, I had alternator whine and all. Found it to be related to gains on my PPI 900.4. They were set to the middle. I brought them down a little, around or slightly above 1/4 and the hiss went away. I knew from previous videos what was the ideal max volume to have...

    Front Dash Crack

So I went and purchased a second car (09 Lexus RX350 second gen) and they had an infamous dash cracking issue as well. Safety wasnt as much of an issue but the cracks were hideous and I guess harder to hide than on the GMC's. Regardless, they had an extended warranty for their dash and have...

    AFM Disabler - Worth it?

I paid 75 for a local shop to disable AFM. I definitely wouldnt spend 200 on just an AFM delete. Either get AFM deleted as cheap as possible or get a real tune like Black Bear. Anything in between is a waste IMO.

    Project overboard

Looking good! Wow thats a lot of trunk space considering that big box is there. You still have the second row in the truck right?

With the way I recommended, there are possibilities to hiding the cable. Someone did a setup like this recently with stock Navi. Should be a thread if you look far enough.

    Video streaming

Well here is one way Well that is only if you want a direct connection to put what is on phone to the monitor. The best option is what I originally mentioned which is wireless casting which I think will work with the rear monitor, most likely not the stock front, only aftermarkets can do...

    Video streaming

Never seen one. Iphones suck but if you had to go that route, you have to work harder. You need an extra adapter added to what the other person was selling. You need something like this item below that connects to your phone and that HDMI to A/V connects to it and then connects to car...

Hide amplifier under console? Where to run power wires?

I was able to mount 2 amps in that area, one up in the front near 2 subwoofer mounting holes and the other doesnt go past the rear mounting hole. Mounting on top of each other looks like it will work space wise but if the bottom amp is working descently hard, I wonder if it can handle the extra...

Hide amplifier under console? Where to run power wires?

Sorry to hear man. If it helps you feel better, I had to go back in a few times to get my system sounding right. I never used a dsp and the other stuff you have. Hopefully someone here can provide some addditional feedback to help you. I literally had to mimic a youtube video just to get...

Hide amplifier under console? Where to run power wires?

Glad to hear you making progress. There are different ways to do many things and people dont agree with all of them but if it gets the job done, you not doing it wrong. I hear people put squash in their mac and cheese. Not my cup of tea but if it works for someone, its not wrong, just...

Hide amplifier under console? Where to run power wires?

True, there is no right or wrong way, but my recommended ground was easier. You could test before using and save tons of wiring. Regardless, the battery is right there which helps your scenario. Hope it all works out.

Hide amplifier under console? Where to run power wires?

If it helps, I used one of the stock subwoofer mounting bolts as a ground. Its already down in that area so no cutting and short wires will work. Strongly recommend that over cutting a second hole from battery. Even if you are keeping subwoofer, you can clean one of the 3 bolts mounting...

    Video streaming

Only way I know how to stream 'video' from phone is through a casting device. Most aftermarket dvd head units have HDMI/RCA setup that can connect to a casting device (chrome cast, roku, firestick). With stock head unit, I think you can buy an add on to stream music but not sure about...

Hide amplifier under console? Where to run power wires?

I went slightly up and more towards the middle of the car. I definitely drilled in the textured area, not the smooth part. I would say 4 inches to the left and 4 inches up from the circled area on the left.

D-Pillar speaker revisit - purpose and connections

Seems like a conversation with myself but after talking to my guru friend, the stock speakers at 12.5 ohms will give me a total of about 3 ohms? That should do the trick and bring out the stockers more with real power going to them. Will plug those back in and see how they shine :)

D-Pillar speaker revisit - purpose and connections

Well that would give me a total impedence of 1.7 ohms. My amp is 2 ohm stable. Would that be close enough or anything under 2 is risky?

D-Pillar speaker revisit - purpose and connections

So I currently have my Helix components connected to PPI 900.4 2 channels @ 4 ohm. This is 4 ohm set but without crossover. I assume they still are 4 ohms even without the crossover connected? They just have a capacitor limiting what tweets get. I have some Infinity tweets I got for free...

Anyone have a Pioneer Nex, Idatalink Maestro RR with Rear Seat Entertainment (Controls not working)?

Yea, I just realized since having this setup, I have never actually used dual zone besides for testing. I never tested those rear jacks but definitely will try in the near future and update this thread on my findings with PAC. My audio guru strongly recommends kenwood over pioneer HU's but...

    Speaker and Sub help!!!

you can install a LOC to add a sub alone. When you say speakers, I assume you mean door speakers? You can just install the speakers. Output depends on which you install but nothing special needed in that case.

Anyone have a Pioneer Nex, Idatalink Maestro RR with Rear Seat Entertainment (Controls not working)?

Interesting, I have Pioneer with PAC setup and definitely have dual zone technology. There was an extra harness I had to buy but if the rear can show something, I dont understand why the dual zone wouldnt work as its an option on the main HU. I never heard anyone have any limitations with...

I had aftermarket ones that can stay on as long as half hour. Was hoping stock remote can do it too.

REMOTE START - Possible to Keep car on after taking key out?

I know aftermarket remote starts have this ability but is there any way for the Tahoe to stay running after it has been started? Sometimes I make quick runs into stores and hear its not good to keep cutting cars on and off for short intervals.
