I'm finally going to get to dechrome my front end. Tagged a truck in front of me last week. We were rolling away from a traffic light when a car flew out of a gas station driveway into his lane and he did an overcompensating panic stop dead in front of me. I was towing a 2-ton trailer and...
You can use an add-a-fuse to get power from the primary fuse box under the hood. Find one with the same amperage as the donor vehicle and verify that it has ignition only power. Otherwise, your lights won't go off with the ignition. You would also need a relay and aftermarket switch unless you...
I know this thread is a few months old but I appreciate the straightforward upgrade advice from Nathan. I have been contemplating the GMT900 front brake upgrade on my 2003 Yukon XL. My factory brakes have been very reliable and last forever (90,000 on each set of front pads). However, I do a...
I notice that many owner put way more emphasis on wheel than tires. I know the wheel provide the aesthetic appeal and we all like something that enhance the appearance. But I found that after going through two complete suspension changes (lowering only), that the biggest ride improvement came...
Mines a 2003 and I have 2" drop spindles 2" shorter coils on rear with 22 x 9.5 snowflakes and 285 45 R22 Michelins. I have yet to do the GMT900 front brakes, but that is planned. This tire wheel combo is a snug fit, but minor trimming of the rear fender liners was all that was needed. When I...
Happy you got her fixed without a new engine. Nice to know that the sounds these failing cats make can vary. Always a good place to start when strange noises are heard.
I'm not weighing in on what it might be except to say that when my cat failed at 79K it did not sound like that. I actually thought it was a loose heat shield on the cat. Sounded like sheet metal rattling. I was really surprised when the tech at the dealer told me that the guts had come loose...
Yeah, I checked that because there are a few YouTube videos that mention it. I don't get water inside that area where the grommet is. Always dry in there even when carpet under the mat is soaked.
I painted the roof first so I'd get good adhesion of the molding. I plan to double back and paint the molding when I get a chance. But really, unless your 6' plus you can't even see it.
I misspoke the molding is 1 1/2" wide and I got it from Amazon. Here's the link...
The VRT works good on running boards and lasts through several washings. But it is a little slippery when wet.
I removed my roof rack and add a 1 1/4" vinyl body-side molding to cover all the holes. Some people just leave the screws in place. The screws require a torx bit.
Cool. All three of us have carbon gray (aka dark spiral gray if you go shopping for some). Color-sanding and buffing with 3M Perfect-it system can make even a fair paint job look pretty professional.
Nice ride Mike. I actually form Sarasota. Mountie is from Manatee. Your truck looks great. I've also used Mobil 1 since new. BTW, I painted the roof and hood myself. Not too bad if you have a good compressor. Now days with basecoat/clearcoat it's Pretty easy. But don't let it go too long. My...
Yes, I pulled the wiper cowl and checked that area. The only other thing I forgot to mention is that it only leaked when sitting. Never noticed any water when driving. Water only appears under the mat on driver side. No water under the dash or in the compartment behind the toe kick. Can't...
My Yukon has had this problem for 3 or 4 years. Not all the time, just on occasion. I don't have the shark fin antenna or sunroof. Thought it might be the windshield since it was replace a few months before it happened the first time. It got broken...again...and this time I had Safelite...
Tonyrodz, looks like you're the king of second-hand parts. Better schedule a Florida vacay in Bradenton. I hear there's a great pull n go spot there:). Bring a trailer! Oh, and the tool box.
