The oil pressure gauge on my 08 Yukon has been pinned at 80 for the past few weeks so I finally decided to change out the sensor a few days ago. I had a spare sensor for my 10 Suburan sitting in the shed so I figured I was go to go. I tried to remove the sensor with the manifold in place and...
Plugging a module into the OBD port is not a DOD delete. You're just turning it off but under certain rare conditions it can still reactivate. Are you having a specific problem or just trying to be proactive against lifter failure?
Take the serpentine belt off and and start it up for a minute. If ticking goes away then you know it one of the pumps or idler/tensioner pulleys. If ticking stays then you verified its in the motor.
Definitely pick up two sets of these and guide pins as well. The bolts on my 08 Yukon were so rusted in place I had to spend two days cutting them out with a sawzall to get the arms off. Soak your old bolts with some liquid courage (wd40) and hopefully they come off easily
Thanks for the info...they're barely rubbing the wheel liner so either gonna go with a small lift or I might try and rug something up with some zip ties....
Hey Everyone. Picked up some 22" late model wheels for my Suburban and they're rubbing slightly on the wheel well shrouds when turning in reverse. Anyone have any tips on pulling the plastic shrouds back?
Your going to need a code reader that displays live data when the truck is running. Without one its a guessing game. If you plan on keeping the truck and doing the work yourself it's worth the purchase.
Might be worth doing a purge and seal test on the EVAP system with a scanner just to make sure it's working properly. One possible cause that can be checked off the list if it is.
While your under the truck check around the oil pan for oil leaks. Very common on the older trucks and with AFM its extremely important to keep the oil topped off and fresh. Also probably a good idea to look into disabling AFM. Multiple threads on here discusses the topic.
Not sure if this is your issue but when I installed the updated d/s valve cover on my 2010 Burb the PVC hose connector would not fit onto the nipple. I cut off the connector and used a piece of hose to connect the two together.
I used this one when I did the delete. Truck runs great and I do not notice the loss in H.P...
12689035 (190/191, 0.466/0.457, 114). This one is the default “stock replacement” cam sold with many DoD kits, but it is a bit anemic. It is the same cam used in the LMF 5.3 engine (VVT but no DoD...
So I tapered the tip of one of the bolts that came with the kit and got it in first shot. Everything else went pretty smoothly. Definitely need patience putting this thing on. Even removing and reinstalling the heat sheild is a struggle. It's a doable project though. Unfortunately this didn't...
You mean the hole on the bracket? I used a mirror and it seems pretty well lined up. I'm thinking of getting a different bolt with a tapered end. Hoping that would thread in better.
I hate Dorman for even inventing this thing!!! LOL!!! I got the old bolt off and bracket is on with the top bolt in. Trying to get the lower bolt on now. I took valve cover off, jacked up the trans and removed the heat shield..You definitely need patience and some beers with this job...
I got the Dorman 917-107 and it didn't come with the flange nut. It came with three bolts. Two for the back of the head and one that threads thru the bracket and it looks like it would thread right into the head. I'm going to get a flange bolt to put on so it will push down on the manifold. My...
Well so far so good..Its running great! First off thanks to everyone's input and answers to my questions. I would never have been able to pull this off without it. Couple of quick observations. After a few highway merges I do not notice the loss of power from the mild cam. If anything it seems...
Would it help to remove the coils and valve cover? I'm about to do one on my Yukon tomorrow. Also it seems the Dorman bolt fits into the manifold hole so how does it push down on the manifold?
When I did my Yukon with the Tech 2 it had me follow the same procedure. D/S then P/S front then P/S D/S rear. It is a real pita. You almost need 3 people, one in the truck, someone on the calipers and another keeping the reservoir full. Also big help to have all 4 wheels off. I would say you...
So getting ready to drop the lifters in and wanted to ask a few questions. #1 is to clean the ports thoroughly. I'm going to use a rag sprayed with some brake kleen and wipe upwards best I can to prevent any dirt from falling down into the motor. They're already pretty clean. Then drop in...
