Leave the torsion bar keys as is. Install a set of longer shocks (bilstein adjustables) or 2" shock extensions with a $50 set of Monroes standard length
OR, replace with standard shocks and the torsion bar keys can be relaxed by loosening the adjustment bolts a few turns.
Shocks are cheap, and...
Most folks that have a fully-operational & maintained "air ride" will tell you to spend the money and replace the shocks & air compressor with the original equipment. The testimonials are def positive. You don't exactly have to go all-out on OEM stuff; their are aftermarket manufacturers with a...
@swathdiver
The torsion bar adj bolt is 18. The TREs are either 18 or 19. Shock mounting bolts. Most upper BJs. Just off the top of my head. I think the control arm bolts will be 18, too.
my new HF TRE seperator takes a 19 is prob why I said it.
And indeed don't get caught w/out a 15mm
If you want to get specific there will be 8/10mm for small bolts & 14/15/18/19mm on up for your bigger bolts & parts like BJs. Keep a medium sized crescent wrench with a spare pipe or bar that you know for a fact will slide over that crescent & your ratchets for leverage. At the least I keep...
If leaking intake gasket seals are found, replace the intake gaskets. During the repair be sure to use the current GMSPO part number for replacement intake gaskets. The current GMSPO part number for intake gaskets will have a teal green intake gasket seal. The old version of the intake gaskets...
You really need a diagnostics flow chart like the techs use for getting to the source of these problems. The really good techs have experience & wisdom in their arsenal and that's like magic. Other than that you have to be really lucky or have a lot of extra time & money where you eventually...
Are you replacing the hard lines only? It would be a fine time to get the caliper flex ends done too. SS, of course. Currently, there is a discussion on another forum linking the info to the original manufacturer that all or most of the big names supposedly use in their packaging. I think it's...
I have not yet done the intake gasket R&R on this model, myself. But, from past experiences, there isn't much to it on this truck. I have this other vehicle with 1 of those upper "banana manifold" and coil packs bolted to the back of it up against the firewall, then the lower mani' AND about...
what are the exact codes that have come through?
hopefully something other than a generic misfire/spec' cylinder misfire.
have you ruled-out any vac' leaks and faulty intake manifold gasket?
haha. I'm not that old. my father had 1 of those "Zack Morris" cell phones I used to mess with. I was watching 'SBtB' on Sunday and there it was big as life, back when they were referred to as "mobile phone"
the little Nokia's blew up when I was in college. that is also when people began using...
I probably would have chosen to drive the DEUCE 1/2 with the weather being so crazy up there. Do you have it street legal??
It's supposed to be "wintery weather" down here in Dallas this week and trust me, the way these idiots drive, you realistically need a steel body -on- steel frame military...
^ this.
I also successfully resolved the 0446 'large/gross EVAP leak' with vent valve solenoid R&R
I never experienced symptoms to the degree that OP is but I did get the occasional odor of fuel. If different vent valve doesn't clear up the code, it should be the EVAP purge valve under the...
@yukonoffroad27
You have a good vehicle for a beginning driver. I was able to do a lot with my trucks in high school just having a part-time job @ the grocery store and hanging around like-minded people with the same hobby and always eager to help. It's almost necessary, being that young, to...
You & me both. Don't get anyone pregnant, go to class everyday & study really hard... You might get there someday. You need a high-paying job, minimal expenses and most important .... Don't get put in jail. You should be able to get a good job.
If you are going to try & upgrade your front axles...
I like the idea of having the unrestricted intake tube between the stock filter box (which works well with both stock & performance setups) and the TB BUT I definitely wouldn't pay over $100 for said tube, especially on a bone stock engine. If anything I would get 1 of those $30 eBay knockoffs...
@Epik
If you search from Google you will find info for diagnosing bushing and ball joint failure, steering linkage degradation & so forth. It really requires an extra person to assist but if you do some research and get your own 2-hands on the moving parts, I'm sure you will feel better about...
