This is what I did, could not tell the difference between the auto ride shock ride and the arnott ride on the rear, other than it got smoother! I have almost 2 years on my arnott replacement compressor as well.
I had some shuttering at highway speeds that I swore was rims/tires. After exhausting that route I just threw the kitchen sink at the front end, lower ball joints, upper control arms w/ball joints, & tie rod ends. When I did my front struts w/springs about a month ago I did the end links. I...
I live in Wisconsin, about 60 miles north of Milwaukee. Very happy with the results, noticeably smoother on the city and highway the little bit I drove it yesterday. Going to put over 100 interstate miles on it today and tomorrow, but the short run yesterday was showing the...
Ha! I had lube dripping everywhere and I was whacking the shaft so much my forearms were getting sore!!!! Had a mushroom forming on the end of the shaft from all the whacking! I couldn't get the Double D nut to bust!! The inside bolt head by the strut spring wouldn't budge. I'm pretty...
That's the stuff! Acetone works for regripping golf clubs too!!
I pussed, I had it towed, we are working to get our house on the market in the next couple weeks to get out of this little town and I just don't have the time to hack away on the bolts with my saws all. Need the rig up to pull a...
Thanks for your tips. I have soaked for a couple days now minus the rag, no luck budging the bolts but got the nuts off on the drivers side without busting them. One last shot tonight when I swap my wheel bearings and if I cannot get the shafts loose I'm going to take the easy way out. Shop...
Thanks! I didn't think of that, I do have a sawzall. I can just pull the shock for more room and chop away. I'll have to make sure that I have enough metal blades for it. I was going to rip the other side apart tonight and I'm expecting to find more of the same. Got some time my new wheel...
So, anyone have any tips for getting the bolts out of the upper control arm? Tackled the passenger side tonight and when trying to break the nut loose on the front bolt I busted the bolt at the nut. I got the nut off on the rear bolt but man I could not get those suckers to move at all after...
I got the nuts from the dealership, OEM part number 11609826, definitely 36mm. I already had a 36mm socket and it fits and I also measured it (albeit with a ruler) and it was 36mm. Hopefully I can get all of this stuff installed this week. I ended up purchasing the $50 ABN ball joint press...
Thank you, I've never changed it. As far as I know stock hub and bearings yet so then it surely is the 35. I'll add stopping at the stealership to grab some nuts:eek::eek: and confirm the size. I don't want my front end falling apart at 75mph!!
That is exactly what I bought, Moog UCA and Moog lower ball joints. Double checked with my magnet, definitely steel lower control arms. Moog tie rod ends in the package too. Gotta order up that monster 36mm socket for the axle nut yet...
Guess I didn't contemplate renting the tool, I'll have...
So, I've been bit by make the front end smooth bug. Going to be purchasing new upper control arms and I'm going to replace the lower control arm ball joints.
I don't have a ball joint press currently and need to get one for the job so wondering which one is the sure thing to get the job done...
I just have a 1" block under my front shocks, nothing in the rear. 20x9 Pro Comp 31 0 offset. Factory size Discoverer AT3, 275/55/20. Works for me! 38 1/4 ground to fender in the rear and 37 1/2 ground to fender in the front. That's with the rear shocks aired up.
Put the new Arnotts in the front. Had one of the bolts bust on the sway bar end link, so I got some Moogs from the local O'Reilley's so I could finish. They ride smoother for sure, bumps don't feel like I'm plowing over mini curbs anymore. Took it up 10 minutes on the interstate and it is...
Got my blacked out grills installed a couple weeks ago. Also got my new Arnott struts installed and new moog sway bar end links. Thankfully the O'Reilly's has the moog's in stock, bolt snapped in half on one end link when I was trying to loosen it. Rides much smoother now, doesn't feel like...
I made a bracket with a piece of flat metal I had lying around, like the stuff you would use to hang a garage door opener. I put it in a vice and hammered an L on an edge to make it rigid and rattle canned it black. Took measurements before I installed my blocks so I knew how high I had to go...
My rears died about 115k, still held air when they would fill but I got solenoid errors. Replaced with Arnotts, literally plug and play. The passenger side rear shock was tricky to get at the top bolt due to the lines for the rear climate control. I took the spare tire shield off and it made...
Good to hear. I finally pulled the trigger on some Arnott's for the front, I have a leveling block on there currently. Stuck with the Arnott because I put some in the rear and have been happy with them. Wish they would get here in time to install this weekend. I only have about 117k on the...
When I had the issues in the beginning the shop said they checked the runout on the rims and they were fine, they are 20x9 ProComp 31 Series wheels. This was when they found a tire out of spec and warrantied it (AT KO2 at the time). THey gave me a printout from the road force machine with all...
Thanks for the input, I was leaning towards the tires, my rims are 0 offset, not sure how much that messes with ride. Definitely don't see any tire related issues, I change my oil about 5k mile intervals and rotate my tires every oil change and the wear looks fine.
I get that cold tire...
about 115k before I got solenoid errors on them, 09 YD. Went Arnott for the replacements Fronts are wet on the top, gonna get Arnotts soon up front too.
Do you have the Z55 autoride suspension? I recently replaced my rear shocks and I was forewarned on here and by a letter in the box from Arnott that if the connector on the frame rail up by the shock on the passenger side becomes loose or gets unplugged you will get that error symptom. Pretty...
And I'm wondering what else I should consider replacing? I have an 09 YD with some 1" or so aluminum leveling blocks on the bottom of the shocks. Have around 116k on the clock.
I was crawling around under there and the boots on the tie rod ends look fine, not ripped or anything. The sway bar...
