Now that you mentioned about the the oil settling in the compressor and causing hard start issues, I think that this might be it. Sometimes when I run the truck, it be a a while between the last time I ran the ac depending on how hot or nice out it is or what time of day I drive it, I think it’s...
Thanks for the input guys. I hope to convince the wifey and get this fixed soon so we don’t grenade the whole system if I let it go too long. I will probably try to do this next month. But, then again I have an oil pan gasket that needs to be fixed and either a bad tie rod or idler arm/pitman...
I guess I could have the local shop evacuate it on Friday, get up early on Saturday and replace everything and the. Go over to the local shop to get it refilled.
I have separate controls for the ac. I really can’t use a shop based on my work and living situation. I commute 50 miles to work in the next town over and I can’t only wrench on the weekends on the property manager isn’t at my complex because we can’t wrench on rigs as it’s against the complex...
Anyone recommend and vacuum pumps to recharge the system after I replace the compressor and any recommended compressors besides oem? Any other parts that I should change when the system is evacuated?
I am going to make a video of it since I am the only one that leaves the house at this time. Plus she knows I need this truck to be working when I they tell us you have to be back at the office before the quarantine. Plus I am sure she will want her AC when we go to Arizona to visit family in...
I see what you mean, but the thing is when driving the compressor does not make any noise and sounds quiet like when I am driving or evening Reving the engine when in park. It is just when it first kicks on after a cold start.
Hey Everyone.
Since it is finally starting to get nice out to where I have to turn the AC on when I drive my truck during the day, I have noticed this weird grinding/binding noise when I turn the AC on for the first start of the day. Like what I mean is a cold start in the middle of the day...
Hey guys sorry for bringing this thread up from the dead, but I finally got around to working on my Yukon and here is the update. So I changed the oil and filter today, and wuala, the oil pressure is a super healthy almost 60 psi at cold start idle and running at 40psi at hot idle like it...
I would think it would be easier to drop the axle than pull the crank pulley. I think pulling the crank pulley we be more difficult and doing it that way would be more time consuming since you have to remove more things like the water pump to get the timing cover off. These pumps are pretty...
I have done it on a 2wd Silverado and it was not that bad. No one told me I had to drop the steering rack for the pan to come off. I have never done it on a 4wd truck like my Yukon is. I’m sure lowering the axle isn’t all that bad. Let me know what you find out. As for the coolant thing, I...
It had a crappy Delco e core on it when I bought the truck and I put the same on when I changed the oil. I heard rose e cores can be crappy sometimes and cause this issue. I hope oreilys still sells the good none e core filters still. If not I put a wix filter on it.
the vehicle has over 226k on it. I have no idea on the history of the vehicle, but it is super clean and much better looking than other vehicles I have experienced with high mileage. I am using 5w-30 valvoline max life full synthetic.
i know it’s not the gauge because I replaced all of them like a month ago. It doesn’t have any lifter noises or anything. I had an o ring fail on another 06 I had and it had way lower oil pressure and horrible lifter tick
So on this GMC Yukon I have, my oil pressure is being kind of weird compared to my older trucks that I no longer own. So when I start my truck in the morning, the oil pressure is a hair above 40 psi. I let the truck idle and warm up for about 15 minutes before I head to work. The truck is not...
I have experienced all the ticks in these motors from piston slap, exhaust manifold leaks, and lifted tick. I think they all sound differently and are pretty easily distinguished. The exhaust leak I had on my 06 Silverado was noticeable on a cold start, but it would go away once warm. You could...
My 2003 Yukon xl 4x4 5.3 gets 17.3 on the highway at 70 mph and I have a 100 mile round trip to work everyday. That’s running 87 octane with arch oil in it. I put ethanol free gas in it one time and it will easily push 20 mpg.
Hello Everyone,
I am newbie from Nevada. I am not new to gm full sized trucks though as that I have owned two 2006 Silverados and a 2009 Silverado. I recently purchased a 2003 Yukon xl slt to replace my 98 expedition. It literally was falling apart and something new would break every week, plus...
