Get the transmission tuned. My 13 sierra with a loaded down tool box and a 28' trailer weighing in around 9700-lb has made it 246,000 miles with no engine or transmission issues. And pulled the trailer at 70-75 mph in 6th gear without the tow haul on. That being said if you can't do that...
The one I put on my 91 sierra with a vacuum booster locks up all 4 tires on 2001 F250 axles with 4 wheel disc brakes and 37" tires. No extra foot power needed.
If you want to really get a bigger master cylinder piston, get a master cylinder for the 2002, 2500 with 4 wheel disc brakes. You'll have to get adapters for the lines that go into the master cylinder. It works great though. I put one on my 91 sierra years ago.
I run one on my tuned 2013 sierra. I think the tuning guy did a crap job on the tune. Still have a pedal delay. The pedal commander is a pile of garbage but if you set it and forget it. And don't drive over 110 mph it will work fine. The banks unit is definitely better.
It came with 3.42's which are equally useless as 3.08's. I worked it hard. Now she just sits in my 28' trailer waiting for someone else to take her home and give it the next chapter in life.
Are you running some ridiculous size tire? I run 3.73's in my 2013 with 20" wheels 32" tires and my 2010 with 22" wheels and 33" tires and both of them will burn the tires off with no hesitation.
I buy 10 ply tires because I hate getting flats. My spare has been put on 2 times in 12 years. 1 time for a cracked wheel and one time for a bent wheel.
