I’m going to pull the ac belt so that I don’t do any extra damage in the meantime. It also sounds pretty bad right now so hoping that goes away when the belt’s off. Of course this happens when it’s starting to get hot......
Do those come in a 22? Or a 24 even.... probably not but figured I’d ask. Kinda tired of dark wheels and really digging that design. Simple but that’s what I like, especially if they’re light
I’ve thought about maybe having mine refinished to brushed aluminum if possible, or powder coated...
Thanks!! That is helpful and reassuring. I’m going to go ahead and run the LQ4. This is going to be my new intake though :Big Laugh:
Really liking those wheels on your Tahoe btw
Is this the box? If so it looks like it’s only for converting 58x to 24x, not the other way. 58x gear sounds like the way to go.
So far it seems like 58x reluctor, gen IV timing cover and 4x timing gear, relocate knock sensors, and use my factory gen IV harness and computer. That doesn’t seem...
Here is a write up and list of parts from someone who used a gen 3 in a gen 4 truck.
These are my thoughts and my unprofessional opinion from what I’ve gathered so far... If someone just wants a really simple swap with a mostly stock engine that they do not want to tear into, then it makes...
I’m going to tear it all the way down anyways and take my time with it, so I’d like to further investigate what it takes to make it work. Trying to kinda do this on a budget. Also if I have any issues with this block down the road it would be nice to know I can get another for kinda cheap.
have fun paying for that 6.2... LQ4s are awesome platforms and more than capable. The 4L80 will definitely work and that in itself isn’t too difficult of a conversion
If the 6.0/4l80 comes with a new computer, harness, everything... why would it be an issue at all?? Unless it’s better to use the original computer. Forgive my ignorance... going to be learning a lot here
I’m going through engine completely anyways so that’s not a huge deal. Reluctor wheel and knock sensor location seem to be the main things. I’m reading where some people have had the blocks drilled and tapped.
2007 (might technically be a 2006.5, it’s one of the firsts). I know people put LQ4s into anything and everything so I never thought of it being an issue. Was thinking I could/should maybe use the original harness. It’s going to be a learning experience and never expected it to be plug and play...
I’m kinda in the market for another truck. It’s kinda crazy how much RCSB trucks are going for. This looks like a perfect daily for me. Looks like most newer Silverado’s with low mileage are 30k+... and honestly I’d rather have this. But $21.5k for a 13 year old 94k mi 4.8 truck seems high...
