Tahoe Z71 renovation project - Cracked Dash Fix

You have to be careful with the idea of reinforcing a brittle part with more brittle material. Using epoxy to bond metal to it is going to do very little as the epoxy is just going to crack off under stress. Placing "columns" underneath like you describe will be a problem too because those...

Tahoe Z71 renovation project - Cracked Dash Fix

Was yours laminated in automotive vinyl? Mine wasn't particularly "brittle". I imagine many of you are finding your dashes to be close to the point of shattering due to long term sun and heat exposure, but mine is still very flexible and resilient...probably due to the truck having been...

Tahoe Z71 renovation project - Cracked Dash Fix

You saved yourself a ton of time and frustration. Wrapping a dash is no joke...it sucks. If you do it right though, the results are incredible.

Tahoe Z71 renovation project - Cracked Dash Fix

All finished and installed: It's red because that's going to be the new color scheme...new matching leather for the seats is on order and i'm going to do the same color in the door inserts. The red SRT interior in the Durango was my inspiration. I'm a sucker for red and black. So there...

Tahoe Z71 renovation project - Cracked Dash Fix

and then finally, because I have tried to repair my behind-the-cluster crack with glue for years, there was no way to make it look good from the top, I decided to (fake) leather-wrap the whole deal:

Tahoe Z71 renovation project - Cracked Dash Fix

The repair: My defroster vent panel had lost all but one of it's attachment points only the far right trim clip peg remained. You might have thought the only choice was to replace it, but that's a $300+ part so screw that noise, i decided to fix it: I used 3/16" abs stock and cut new...

Tahoe Z71 renovation project - Cracked Dash Fix

Well I know this has been covered extensively so i'm not going to dwell on the repair technique when there's plenty of data on thats already out there...but I know that when going into a project like this there can never be too many examples of how other guys did it. So here's mine...I went a...

Pre-Loaded Strut/Spring : Parts to Make My Own

I've had great experience with Bilstein up until now. I will say this - the 5100's definitely have a more quality feel to them than the RS9000's...but the 5100's complexity of install combined with the c-clip failures and lack of adjustable damping made the Rancho's difficult to pass up. I...

'12 Suburban Retrofit - questions and worklog

Did you get these done? Wanted to see what your experience was with the Profile LED projectors. I used both the Bi-Lens LED (for low) and Hi-Lens LED (for high) in my retro and the results are nothing short of perfect. Got about six months on them now with no issues.

Pre-Loaded Strut/Spring : Parts to Make My Own

Went through this back in February. I completely replaced my front suspension (UCAs/LCAs, Strut assemblies, knuckles, tie-rod ends, sway bar links, all bolts and bushings) and started out going the Bilstein 5100 route. Once I found out that i'd need to buy replacement struts in order to get...

Interior Squeak and Rattle issues solved

Just wanted to add a little to this conversation - I just finished my cracked dash repair project and it fixed all of my noise. My dash was in pretty bad shape so I knew it was the source of some of the rattles I was hearing...but I could have swore I heard some of the noise coming from behind...

    Seat Foam Cushion

Just to be clear, i'm not claiming that steaming the foam somehow magically makes it unbreakable. All it does is "reset" the foam to new form. It will compress just like it did the first time. around. So in 30/40/50k miles, or however long it took the first time, is approximately the same...

    Seat Foam Cushion

Yes if your foam is extremely worn with tears or damage then replacement is the only solution obviously. But for most of us who just have the compressed exit side bolsters, steaming will bring the foam back to new and last just as long as the new foam did originally. Foam is just a synthetic...

    Seat Foam Cushion

You know you can just steam the cushions back to life. I mean either way you have to take apart the seat but with the steaming approach it's like $50 max cost vs. $100+ per cushion if you buy new foam. I'm about to do my whole interior when I get my new leather in two weeks.

    NNBS and 2015+ headliner colors.

I'm not sure at all. That's why i'm asking the forum. The visors are functionally identical, but I don't know if the headliner colors are the same. It would make sense to just use the same colors but GM is notorious for changing stuff that did not need to be changed, and not changing stuff...

    NNBS and 2015+ headliner colors.

Surprisingly, extensive Googling has turned up nothing on this - Are the new (2015+) "gray" headliners the same color as the 2007-13 "gray" headliners? I need to replace my driver's side visor and the 2015+ ones are half the price of the 2007-14 ones, plus the new ones are LED. The mount is...
