    Its the little solenoid on the side of the starter that engages the starter to the flywheel. Years ago we could replace it,.. now adays we just get a new starter, no biggie.

    ....and thats why i do all my own work....originally jobber pricing was supposed to be 15-20% below what the general public could buy it for,...alowing the shop to make 20% on the parts,..but its no longer that way.     138k on the vehicle,....dropping the pan on mine (4wd) requires lowering the front diff. I also have a slight drip from the water water pump,.. so that will get replaced as well,...its just one more cover after the water pump right ?

    Its definitely coming from the bottom end which isnt good,... but for some reason it doesnt sound like a rod nock,... almost sound like a broken oil pump, but you said oil pressure is good right ? maybe others will chime in.
