I've checked a couple of the easier to reach grounds and they all seem fine. The worst one had some dust on it. No rust, no corrosion, no nothing, and all tightened down well.
Unfortunately I had an unexpected hospital stay and am not supposed to do any strenuous activity for quite a while...
Is there a sticky with all of the grounds to check? Even though I might sound like I know what I'm doing, I'm just a Youtube mechanic...meaning I only know what I have learned from these forums and Youtube. :happy175:
Just finished testing fuel pressure with an actual pressure gauge. Idle pressure stayed right on 46 the entire time. Even as the truck stuttered, the pressure didn't budge at all. Dead on the whole time.
I did notice something strange though. I was doing this test at night, and I had my...
Starting a new thread since the thread I started the conversation in was marked as solved.
I have a rough idle on my '10 Avalanche as well. Been battling it for a long time now with no resolution. No codes, no stalls, but it sure feels like it's just a smidge from stalling when I'm sitting at a...
Just got the gauge from the parts store. Hopefully will get to it tonight. The OBD2 reader showed it between 42.6 and 43.5, so will be interesting to see how the gauge compares to that.
Haven't gotten to check everything yet, but it did it sitting in park in a parking lot just now. So it looks like it's not just while in drive. Actually thought it was gonna shut off.
I have a rough idle on my '10 Avalanche as well. Been battling it for a long time now with no resolution. No codes, no stalls, but it sure feels like it's just a smidge from stalling when I'm sitting at a light. I've also experienced an issue that I think might be the same as your "spike in...
Wow, it has an actual name. Would that be South or North Carolina? I'm originally from South Carolina, so maybe I should be embarrassed. :)
Honestly though, I would think they'd have a hard time actually seeing the road.
Is this a new fad? I was looking at Tahoes online and ran across probably a dozen of these that are just lifted in the front. Anybody know anything about this? I'm just curious.
It has problems going up the slightest incline if it needs to downshift. It has trouble downshifting and then seems to jump back and forth between gears. It actually does this a lot around 45MPH or so. It's like it can't decide which gear it wants to be in. It will also just shake and...
Transmission is going out on my '15 Tahoe LTZ and I'm starting to research replacement options. Talked with a mechanic buddy of mine today who agreed that it's going and needs to be replaced. He did his own on his '03 Avalanche and said he would help me if I wanted to do it myself. He...
I think I've finally put this issue to bed. Put 2" spacers and Bilstein 5100's in the rear of the Tahoe last night. The rear is now exactly 2" higher than the front and the Bilsteins feel so smooth. Best of all, the wife is happy with how it sits now.
Well, I'm gonna try one more model of front struts before I go with the spacers.
I've already dealt with the MRC with Xineering's kit too. Now just looking to get the ride height correct.
Thanks for the recommendation of BDS. They make a rear shock for 0-3" lift so if I end up going with the...
Well, I took a shot and bought some AC Delco struts to see if I could just replace the struts and reuse the OEM springs. Took the old shock apart today, went to put the new strut in, and it didn't fit. The rod that goes up through the mounting plate was too thick. The threaded portion of the...
Found something interesting while searching around yesterday. ReadyLift makes a set of shock extenders that are similar to others I've seen except they are rounded (https://www.readylift.com/rear-shock-extensions-gm-full-size-truck-suv-1500-1999-2018.html). I think that would be even worse as...
I'm trying to see if there's a consensus on suspension heights. I'm trying to get my Tahoe back to "factory" heights so I'm just trying to see what that might be.
Also, taking measurements as olyelr suggested (wheel well to center of wheel) would give us a method that at least eliminates...
If you have an LTZ, you're gonna have some version of the magnetic shocks unless they were removed before you purchased it. Look at some of the magneride/mrc threads on here and check out shocksims.com. You could be in for an adventure.
That's a very good point. My wife just measured her friend's Tahoe and it was 36" in the front and 38.5" in the rear. I'll get her to do it again from wheel well to center of wheel.
Curious if anyone has a stock ride and could provide some height measurements? Trying to find the right height for my wife's 2015 Tahoe and I would love to hear from someone that has the same thing but with stock/OEM parts. Would be great if a couple people could take measurements from the...
I'm just not fond of rotating the shock to a different position from its intended use. I also don't have much confidence with the way it is oriented. Feels like the extender could rotate on the bolt if the shock failed to compress.
The extenders made for lowering always look to have much...
My bad, I didn't mention I installed Monroe 139104's in the front (not Fox) and it raised the front by 3 inches. I'm thinking about putting a spacer in the back now. A rear spacer would solve it and keep me from hitting my head when the lift gate is open too. :)
What kind of shock relocation...
