Thanks for all this! Great info. For $28 i don't mind buying the removal tool myself, can pass around to relatives too for their own trucks.
Those torque specs you used on this same ARP bolt too I'm assuming?
I have that same exact torque wrench lol, so will use this same method once getting...
Didn't "do" anything per say but thanks to the fine folks on here I have gone ahead and ordered a new front crankshaft seal [296-02 GM OEM seal] and ARP harmonic balance bolt [234-2503 - link below too]. Noticed some dropping on the floor coming from the oil cooler + oil filter areas which...
It's the little things :) my license plate bulb covers were super faded. Ordered 2 of these off AMZN, they even came with new screws and bulbs not shown in listing photo! From a auto parts place in Nevada, TX. Arrived bubble wrapped, no GM box, but the markings are the same on the plastic as the...
No parts here this group probably isn't familiar with, but some pics for the hell of it. The new water pump (ACDelco) + thermostat housing (GM), the two Dorman heater hose lines connected to the two new Dorman plastic T-fittings at firewall, Denso radiator w those new GM oil cooler lines in, and...
I was determined to get them out 'cleanly' in order to justify that all I had done (ie not touching the motor mount) would be sufficient for install of the new lines. Thankfully it was!
I'll post some pics later, perhaps a standalone write-up since I did a combo of YouTube video suggestions out there, but undertook one of the larger projects I've done (def on this truck) over the weekend... complete cooling system revamp and while I had all the clearance from the radiator out...
Unsure of the specific tool, did this a couple years back at my parents place so whatever my dad had on hand. We were seeking to do it at the same time as replacing the wheel hub assembly on that passenger side (completed that part) but could not get the axle removed from the diff carrier. Our...
Considering removal of the front diff (assuming easy, keep reading) in order for ease of oil cooler and trans cooler lines + a leaking axle seal on passenger side (slide hammer did not work so believe case may have to be split in half to access). Silly perhaps but bear with me.
My Denali is...
Changed the trans fluid on my '14 over the past ~24 hours. I was fairly clean until it came time to flex the exhaust pipe out the way to get the back end of the pan out LOL. I followed a YouTube video, but will note on my '14 I did not have to remove the shift cable linkage; it was not blocking...
Looked heavily into a Subaru Ascent back when they were offering 0% APR but didn't do it. I still sort of like em. To me the space behind 3rd row was just as useless as our Yukon so it's comparable in that sense haha
@Geotrash Question for you! Did you Denso radiator have this crack, stress releif, or whatever it is on it? I am 0/2 currently. The 1st 2 photos below was my initial radiator that came in from RA, and I assumed it was bent and cracked so I returned it for a replacement. Well, replacement came in...
Changed the rear differential fluid; something I'd not yet done before on this. Cleaned all inside with carb cleaner. Painted the outside portion of the diff cover silver. And found a drill attachment wire wheel worked well for cleaning all mating surfaces. I used a GM OEM rubber gasket to put...
Bit off topic, but does this cause the car to have a 'hill assist' control? Because I swear when getting going from a stop on a hill it feels like it takes an extra push of the pedal like the brakes are holding without my foot on the brake pedal. Never bothered to look it up though.
My cooling system refresh parts have begun arriving! The Denso radiator came in today. Thermostat, thermostat housing, and radiator hoses earlier this week. Now I'm just waiting on the water pump and heater hoses (the auxiliary "inlet" and "outlet" if I recall, one of which is the metal...
All - Appreciate the insight on the alternator incl. the potential for newer/higher amp rating ones! Ultimately however, given the potential upside should a problem arise during road tripping, I ended up going with the Carquest Premium 160-amp through Advance ($200 after the $10 core charge)...
That looks sooooo clean, dam! Nice truck.
Appreciate the write-up and interesting to see how your 'problem items' have evolved through the generations. Some of your items brought back memory of my dad cursing while fixing... particularly the "quick disconnects" haha
I'm not even looking forward to it on our current one :D because I probably will not convert to the fixed struts. I believe ours has the Z55 "Autoride" package, thankfully not the Z95 "Magnetic ride control" which I hear is even pricier.
