I likely would have looked more seriously at the Expedition. I very easily could have ended up with a crew cab pickup with 5.5' box and cap.
I previously had a 2500 crew cab with 6.5' box and cap. My biggest complaints with it were the ride and size now that I downsized my trailer.
The standard reverse camera is not recognized by the mirror. I'm not giving up on an interior trailer view, but it won't be a priority for this summer.
The digital rear view mirror kit arrived today and I installed the mirror this evening. Mirror and cameras / license plate light assembly appear to be genuine GM parts (as claimed). The camera assembly included both the backup camera and mirror camera (video and website state mirror camera...
275/60r20 on stock wheels should be very easy to fit w/o rubbing compared to my 315/70R17. They are 1" shorter and 1.5" narrower. Unless you're rubbing on the inside sidewall / shoulder due to having too wide / square shouldered tire for the stock offset, the fender liner pullback should provide...
To update this old thread, I finally ordered the digital rear view mirror kit from infotainment.com with the primary intent of using it to display a camera mounted to the back of my trailer. My short term solution will be a connector near the rear fuse panel to switch between the liftgate camera...
I ordered 4 of these today https://www.rigidindustries.com/a-series-high-power-natural-white-1-light-black-housing-480083.html The same as I posted above but natural white instead of cool white. They were backordered so it will be a few weeks before I get them. I'll also be installing aux...
A fender liner pull back will definitely help. Westcott Designs offer a kit or you can roll your own (like I did). I ran 315/70R17 (34.5") for the winter with almost no rubbing. They rubbed turning sharply at entry / exit height and once hitting a bump while turning and braking.
Are you running...
I'm a bit surprised this turned into a "who's got the largest .... car payment" discussion.
I've decided to install 2 rock lights near the rear most coat hooks and 2 in the lift gate. I'm not sure when I'll get to the them as work has been demanding but hopefully before vacation in July.
I'm...
I ran 315/70R17 all winter. They measure 34.5" vs the factory AT4 tires at ~33.5" and I couldn't notice a difference in how the truck drove (6.2L). There is a difference in fuel economy (~1 mpg) and I did not tow with the winter tires on.
I'm looking for something to install once and never think about again for a decade+. I'm familiar with Rigid LEDs as I have them on the Yukon, motorcycle, trailer and tractor.
It's 2023 AT4 (non-XL).
The dome lights behave exactly like the owner's manual states. The all illuminate when any of the 4 passenger doors are opened.
Only the rear most (above cargo area) dome light illuminates when the liftgate is opened (unless a passenger door is also opened).
Jeff
My 2023 has 4 rows of dome lights, the 4th row being just above the liftgate. It is simply not bright enough to illuminate the cargo area when the 3rd row is folded (practically all the time for me).
As per the owners manual, all 4 rows of dome lights illuminate when any of the passenger doors open. When the liftgate opens, only the 4th row (cargo area) light illuminates.
After looking through the owner's manual and menu's on the display, I don't see any documented way to configure this.
Going one step further into the upfitter wiring diagrams, it should be possible to power the 3rd row dome light from the cargo area light via a jumper wire, without also...
After 4.5 months, I re-installed the stock wheels and tires yesterday. Careful inspection of the wheel liners revealed the tires only rubbed enough to leave a mark in one location, passengers side on the plastic trim above the running board. I also recall exactly when this occurred, turning into...
Is there a way to have the 3rd row dome light come on when the lift gate opens?
With the 3rd row folded, the cargo area is poorly lit by only the cargo area dome light but adequately lit when all the dome lights are illuminated.
I’m considering an aftermarket or custom solution, but it would...
I was also going to suggest Waze. I think google or apple maps also report speed on some instances (maybe when navigation is active). In general GPS is very accurate for speed measurement. I’ve seen some short duration inconsistencies with speed reported by navigational GPS which a suspect is...
I see that now. I may have been half asleep and looking at a tiny image on my phone last night. I also assumed I was in the ‘21+ forum as that’s all I have experience with.
If you want to fix the rubbing, watch the Westcott Design fender liner pull back kit videos on YouTube. I did a nearly identical mod without their kit and clear an even larger tire. Their kit should make the mod even easier.
I’m surprised as your tires are very close to the stock Z71/AT4 size. I’m running a 3/4” taller tire (315/70R17) with slightly less offset at stock ride height. I also have the power running boards. I only rub at entry / exit ride height (approximately 2” lower than normal).
Based on your...
I use the second row to change clothes for outdoor activities when it’s very cold (second row buckets are great for this, snowy boots on the mat behind the drivers seat, turn 90* for dry carpet to put on a couple pair of fresh socks) and have used the third row as an office when I’m using the...
I'm surprised you didn't rub the frame behind the tire. That was my concern that pushed me to +18ET vs 0ET. It will definitely be an area to watch when you test fit your 35's.
Disclaimer: It worked for a 20 minute drive last night. It is not proven reliable or risk free. Proceed at your own risk.
One last thing I'll stress is to use flyback diodes on all your relays. Failure to do so will result in voltage spikes when the relay is turned off. I blew fuses (fuse taps...
