2017 Yukon Denali-GM Performance Exhaust Question

Thank you for the reply. I should have been clearer in my question. Borla makes both a touring and sport muffler with the exhaust. I am trying to figure out which muffler is in the current GM system since there is only a single part number for the 6.2L now. Thanks. I appreciate the help...

2017 Yukon Denali-GM Performance Exhaust Question

Hello, I am looking at the GM Exhaust for my 2017 Yukon XL Denali. Specifically, the one with the touring muffler. I know it can be ordered directly from Borla, but have read that the GM version has the flap for the AFM and may help prevent drone. And the dealer price and install is fair...

    2017 Stock Ride Height

I have a 2017 Yukon XL Denali with stock 22’s. Looking for the measurement from the ground to the center of the wheel-well / fender or a link for those measurements. Center of wheel to fender would also be a good measurement. Long story, but in short $20k in damage and all new rear axles and...

To lift or not to Lift

+1 on the tires. I have found tread pattern and tread compound to be the cause of a drop of 2-3 mpg. I run dedicated studless winter tires with soft compound and bigger tread blocks vs the dedicated summer tires and have always see a winter drop on all our vehicles.

New Rig Needed. Z71 Burb vs Yukon Denali XL

6.2L Unless you never tow, but rented a 5.3 Burb from LA to Palms Springs and many times wished I had the 6.2. Then again, I tow frequently. Premium is a must, but let’s face it, at the price of these to start with what’s an extra few $?...lol...

Ditto...Seeing the same MPG with the same summer / winter set-up. MT ski trips @80mph with a pod...happy to see 20mpg.

Pulled the trigger on a 2017 Denali - pic inside

Not sure about the short wheel base, but my ‘17 came with the 22’s and side-assist steps. However, when I was looking that combo was few and far between in my area. Wanted the wheels the OP has but none were to be found in PNW.

    Will CAI help with towing?

Ditto for the Tune. I tow quite a bit and hands down the biggest improvement on my ‘07 was the Blackbear Tune. Had the Volant CAI too and upgraded exhaust. Tranny hunted a lot less while towing up hills. Power to pass while towing was great too. MPG suffered only to to lack of discipline...

    Why 22’s over 20’s

Yep, towing has not been an issue with 22’s. Boat, utility trailers, loaded car trailer. Tow with my 20” snow tires too. Would say the vehicle is more responsive with 22’s, but the studless tires are pretty soft.

5.3 Max Tow or Denali 6.2

IMO, it all depends on the weight, amount of tow time, and elevation gain or lack there of it. But, after just putting 900 miles on a ‘18 5.3L burb. I am not sure I would want it as my primary tow vehicle, but I tow approx. 6,400+ and climb around 3,000 feet over a 6,000ft pass. Still not that...

    Sleeping inside your OBS.

Yep, the inflatable mattress with all back seats folded. Also, in single digit temps. Things your 20 year old son will talk you into, to get first chair! Now a ritual each winter.

My shiny 22’s came with the vehicle and I couldn’t decide so I went black for winter (no pics). Rough for winter, clean for summer.

Rodent Issue - Mice, Rats, etc.

Just placed them all around the outside of the vehicle on the ground and all around the outside of the house. 10 acres covered in Ponderosa pines and natural habitat, nightmare for rodents. Very humane considering the price of our vehicles:) However, the circle of life blessed us with a...

Rodent Issue - Mice, Rats, etc.

Had a similar issue as we live in a very rural area. Mice just built nests in the HVAC system but chipmunks and squirrels do the real wire chewing damage. I used multiple traps and trapped until every last one was gone. Had to empty traps for days but eventually, eradification was achieved...

GMC Emblem Removal Instructions - Front / Rear

+1 Yep, need to debadge first unless you are getting a vinyl kit as mentioned (I do this with our BMW’s to cover the blue in the emblems). Use all of the same techniques as mentioned before for the GMC badges. For the big GMC in the middle of the lift gate, just some heat and then pried one...

If you are looking for instructions for removal of the stock badges this is the method I have used for years. Search for “Debadging” and you will find a thread titled as such with other methods as well.

Tire Chains on 2018 Yukon Denali with 22" wheels?

You might also consider the SpyderSpikes. I haven’t used them personally as I went with a set of 20” Winter tires as I saw no way for clearance with the 22’s. If in CA they have three levels of chain requirements and an AWD/4WD with snow / traction tires suffices for all but the 3rd. There...

Looking for all seasons that don't suck in snow

I should clarify my previous post about siping. If you can get a good siped tire from the factory / manufacturer that is usually preferable. As someone else pointed out dry traction will suffer some but in these vehicles it might be hard to tell. It’s like a “sports sedan” there are trade...

Looking for all seasons that don't suck in snow

What ever tire you get, I would highly recommend having them siped. It is usually pretty cheap and will help on the ice. Also helps on the wet and on the boat ramp.
