    LOUD clunk turning in 4wd

This is what I was fearing. I just changed the fluid, took like 5 minutes, super easy job. Old fluid looked decent enough, bit of a burnt smell to it. It seemed like I took out a bit less than I put in though, maybe by a quarter to half quart. The plug magnet didn't look bad though. some metal...

    LOUD clunk turning in 4wd

U joints feel solid to me. It only makes the bad clunking/ gear slipping sound when it is fairly dry. if it is slick, it's fine. There is still more noise in the drivetrain than their should be in 4wd though no matter what. If I have it in auto, I can hear it kick in very easily and it growls...

    LOUD clunk turning in 4wd

It was mostly just wet, definitely less slick than I would normally drive in 4wd on, but I've never experienced anything like this. Even normally driving there was a bit of a growl when accelerating and turning. Nothing it's ever done before, which is why I am concerned.

    LOUD clunk turning in 4wd

2002 Tahoe 4x4 5.3 flex with 280k miles. Had the first snow of the year today, so I decided to put the truck in 4wd just to make sure everything was working. The parking lot wasn't totally slick, so I expected some normal tire drag pulling out of the parking spot, but instead got a horrible...

    Whirring Noise

They definitely did. I remember the conversation. One guy was under the car and yelled up something along the lines of "is this one of the ones that needs the limited slip additive?" someone else looked it up and told him "yes". I may still bring it back, but it almost certainly has the right fluid.

Front bearings are brand new, rears seem to be good.

    Whirring Noise

2002 tahoe 4X4, 5.3L flex fuel, 280,000 Miles I have a whirring sound that is very similar to that of most cars when driving in reverse. It gains pitch with vehicle speed, regardless of gear or RPM, and persists if I shift into neutral. I'd like to say it's coming from the front end, but it's...

    Vibration at 70-75 MPH

Got my tires rotated the other day, and told them about the vibration. I wasn't due for a balance (they generally do it every other rotation), but I had them do it anyway with no change. I was told that all wheels seemed to be well balanced. Only thing possible related: I have a sort of...

Hesitation at full throttle, normal power at partial throttle

Mine did this right as the fuel pump was going out. If I kept it floored it would often stall.

No oil pressure at start up, 2001 Tahoe

I've got 271K on my 02 tahoe 4x4, still drives like a champ. Little issues here and there, but nothing worth complaining about. It's had a water pump about 60K ago, new hubs recently, some various suspension parts, but really nothing serious. there's a few leaks, but I still burn less than a...

    Vibration at 70-75 MPH

Slowing down does work, fortunately, so does speeding up :Good or Bad:. The vibration is mostly heard. I can feel it slightly in the seat and steering wheel, however it does not feel like the wheel is "shaking" like it would with a tire that was badly out of balance. It is more just a low...

    Vibration at 70-75 MPH

For a few months now I have had vibration that sounds more or less like a bad wheel bearing at speeds around 70-75 MPH. It goes away if I solw down or speed up out of that range. Both front hubs have been replaced as they went very bad within a month of each other. Tires have been rotated with...

Best Way To Free Wheel Hub

This one was was easier than the first. I got a grade 8 bolt and nut, put it in the hole from a stud and used it to drive against the spindle with an impact gun. came out on the first time around

Best Way To Free Wheel Hub

The bolts came out just fine for me, the problem is getting the hub loose after that.

Best Way To Free Wheel Hub

There's nothing to get a socket on, but trying to get the whole unit to turn with a big pipe wrench isn't a bad idea. I've seen some that open up absurdly wide, then I'd just need to get a huge pipe on it.

    Rear doors....components???

Unless you want great quality in the back seats, there isn't much point. Tweeters are pretty close range and directional. Save the good components for the front, and stick some decent 2 or 3 ways in the back. I personally have some good 2 way polk speakers in the front, powered by channels...

    left side windows won't operate

Not necessarily a solution, but in my truck, If I pull the window/ lock switch unit out of any door, the windows do not operate (even using the switch by the driver). Check the wiring to all of these and make sure nothing is loose. Besides that, this could be some kind of bad ground. See if...

Best Way To Free Wheel Hub

A few months ago I replaced my driver front wheel hub on my 02 Tahoe 4wd. Man was it a brutal job. Took me a day to get it off. The spline was free with little effort, but the hub was totally seized on to the spindle. I soaked it with penetrating oil, beat the hell out of it with a hammer with...

    Broken Connector on Evap Canister

That is god damn engineering right there. I however did not have the ambition and ended up buying the part from chevy.

P0131 & P0151, open loop, no power when floored

Fuel pump seems to have done it! Kind of a tough job though. Maneuvering the tank out was a pain, and removing the stupid fuel lines was damn near impossible. I accidentally broke the nipple off the vapor canister and had to replace that. Every auto parts store AND GM matched the part wrong...

    Broken Connector on Evap Canister

Well, I was replacing the fuel pump on my 2002 tahoe and I accidentally pulled one of the lines too hard, breaking the connector off of the evap canister. These things are absurdly expensive, and not locally available (that i have found yet), so is there anything I can do to safely let the car run?

P0131 & P0151, open loop, no power when floored

Tested the fuel pressure this morning. about 48 PSI with key on, engine off, 42PSI with the engine running. This seems low to me. Could a bad fuel pump be causing all these issues? If it does need replacement, I currently have a full tank of gas that is about 1/4 E85. would that be safe to...

P0131 & P0151, open loop, no power when floored

2002 Tahoe 4WD, flex fuel, 5.3 Vortec Was driving along at ~50mph today when the car just stalled out, felt kind of like running out of gas. Started right back up and was running ok, but I realized that If I gave it any kind of hard acceleration, it stuttered and slowed down. Eventually it...

    Smoking Around Wheel, Bad Smell

Don't appear to be. Tire size and suspension is stock, so there shouldn't be any reason for them to. Could it be a wheel bearing?
