A 'crystal ball' arrived today for my trusty Tahoe that included a pleasant surprise.
I purchased HPTuners MPVI3 interface (no credits) through Amazon to access a 6% purchase credit. On the box is a 10% off code when purchasing credits, of which I'll need two.
Question for the transmission gurus. I have a 2004 Tahoe, 5.3 flex, 4L60E trans with 168k miles. I’m the third owner and have no previous owner’s service records before purchasing it with 159k on the clock two years ago. Aside from regular maintenance and upgrades during my watch the Tahoe has...
I installed LEDs everywhere except instrument cluster and creature comfort controls. The LED turn signals and taillights gave me hyperflash (really quick cadence) and the cruise control ceased working. Swapping out the flash relay under the dash cured the hyperflash and adding resistors to the...
I bought an OEM harness from Scottyboy for my '04 Tahoe's conversion to efans. It arrived looking as though it was pulled from a GM parts counter! New split loom, shiny contacts and a touch of dielectric grease precisely where beneficial. Highly recommended member!
Thanks for this information. If my Tahoe is not driven for several days the starter spins slower than usual. If not driven within a week the battery will usually be dead.
My first '01 Tahoe was broken into four times and stolen once. Dumb luck brought it back a day later.
The radio was stock with a CD changer nestled in a rear compartment. All thieves got were were receipts, pens & on one occasion the owner's manual. When street racers totaled that Tahoe I...
I installed a Sony touch screen head unit last year and it was initially daunting. After removing the aftermarket Pioneer CD/Radio I confirmed that the factory audio connections were still present and then purchased a PAC interface to connect the new head unit to the '04 Tahoe's wiring with Bose...
I did the upgrade last week and noticed right away how my '04 Tahoe feels lighter when stopping. Calipers came from an '08 Sierra ($40/pr) and cleaned up nicely. New caliper seals, brake pads and regular ole boring rotors arrived from Amazon. Money well spent.
This was actually last year. I found these two photos while rounding up images for an aspirator post.
Besides having a hum in front and rear aspirators, there was this intermittent buzz coming from a rear speaker. Upon removing the D panel and peering inside I spied this remnant had been...
Genuine GM Parts # 22834330 Cabin Air Temperature Sensor Aspirator
Here's how I accessed the rear aspirator. Use a panel clip removal tool to remove retainer clips in the headliner. (See last photo, 2nd tool from left is most useful) I don’t know if this method works on Suburban, ESV or XL’s...
I like the Fram. The light scent slowly dissipates as you'd expect. I prefer Fram's two piece filter as it's easier to get in and out. I ordered the one piece filter in error once and while it fits fine, it did get creased going in. That made me wonder how it was sealing once buttoned up...
On the 'Hoe-do list' today was THE brake upgrade from 12' to 13' rotors and bigger calipers. It's not THAT upgrade with 4 piston calipers but this one fit the budget nicely. I'm surprised how much lighter the vehicle feels now when coming to a stop.
Calipers came from an '08 Sierra ($40/pr) and...
Yezzir, a pricey OEM bearing resides there now. :( The bearing I took out wasn't OEM nor was the upper shaft. I didn't have the dreaded clunk, just that damned Leprechaun tapping.
Yes on the adjustable pedals. I taped a nut to the socket and did one wrap with blue tape to stiffen the swivel's...
The tiny leprechaun tapping at the far end of the steering shaft has been banished. I replaced the upper and lower steering shafts today along with the steering shaft column bearing.
About 5k miles ago I replaced front and rear suspension components and all steering components south of the...
