Didnt even think of that damn

    Electric Cooling Fans

Ok thanks, then I just need to ground the switch and I should be good?

    Electric Cooling Fans

ok thanks! I'll see what happens

    Electric Cooling Fans

So pretty much I'd put a ground for the switch itself and then run the ground wire from the fan?

    Electric Cooling Fans

I was trying to use the stock harness with relays just controlling turning the grounds on and off with a switch instead of the pcm

    Electric Cooling Fans

So I decided I would direct wire the fans with switches. The switches are working but its not toggling the ground on and off. I had the ground for the fan on the middle of this.

places to run wire through firewall?

Sorry if Im not supposed to talk in a thread this old, but is this on the drivers or passengers side? Where exactly under the dash is it?

    Electric Cooling Fans

I know tuning software like hptuners can be used. What else would cause the pcm to not turn them on? Honestly I'm close to wiring a manual switch to them lol

    Electric Cooling Fans

Yeah that makes sense and oh I'm stupid all I did was pair the key with the pcm so itll start I didnt do a vats relearn lmao. For this fan issue I may end up having to go to the dealer for them to add the fan to the pcm in tech2, not sure how much itll cost. Other alternative is to convert it...

    Electric Cooling Fans

This is looking a bit suspect. A bunch of electrical tape and corrosion, but it worked when I put ground to it so I doubt it's a problem

    Electric Cooling Fans

The second pcm is vats relearned. Ok that makes sense, and that I know of the fans have never worked, I've never heard them come on when me or my mother owned the truck. I have a second pcm because it was leftover from a friends partout so he gave it to me among other parts. Not sure if the...

    Electric Cooling Fans

I tried swapping in the other pcm, did not work either. But with this different pcm the truck is in limp mode or something, shifting horribly. When revving in park too it feels different and is slow to come back to idle.

    Electric Cooling Fans

Yeah I have the PCM off right now. I see no corrosion what so ever on it.

    Electric Cooling Fans

Well heres an update yall, did the test and the fans do kick on! So it's some sort of PCM issue. I have a spare PCM but it might be for a pre 2005 truck that doesnt have electric fans. also wondering if my pcm was replaced at one point and the electric fans weren't enabled in it.

    Electric Cooling Fans

Did run out quick to test the temp sensor. Fans did not kick on with it unplugged, kind of expected that

    Electric Cooling Fans

Ok thank you very much. I will perform this test tomorrow as itll be like 45 farenheit out compared to 15 lol.

Do you have a picture of which connector goes to the PCM? Also from what you said I'm guessing that the way the PCM turns the fan on and off is by cutting ground? Since I'd be grounding the wire?
  18. JPVortex

    Electric Cooling Fans

Yeh thatd be a good idea, I'll first test the connector by sending ground with those wires
  19. JPVortex

    Electric Cooling Fans

Or I could probably just put an alligator clamp on the connector
  20. JPVortex

    Electric Cooling Fans

Ok, wouldn't I need to give power to the part that goes into the PCM too aswell as ground aswell? Or wait actually the relays would give it power. And to ground it would I just splice into the wire and run it to a good ground?

    Electric Cooling Fans

will try with the coolant temp sensor unplugged. And no with AC on they do not turn on.

    Electric Cooling Fans

Hello, all my 2005 Tahoe's cooling fans are not coming on no matter what. This is an ongoing issue, that while the truck stays steady at 205-210 while moving, it does climb a bit while sitting at idle for 15+ minutes. Direct 12 volts to the fan shows that they work, so it's wiring for sure...

    2005 Tahoe Towing

Yeah none of them came with the temp gauges, mine included lol. It's one upgrade I've actually considered, i just dont want to lose my odometer. And my fluid has like 6k on it. Had a new trans put in last year when I came in possession of the truck. It burned the 3-4 clutch pack. Now I would've...

    2005 Tahoe Towing

I believe there may be one there I'll double check though. And most of the fluids have been changed recently. Oil, tranny fluid, differential fluid, just need to do a brake and coolant flush

    2005 Tahoe Towing

Heres the update. Towed it today, and it went great! Used towing mode and it did just fine! If it wasn't for the horrible trailer jumping around while empty I wouldn't have even noticed it was there!
