Not the o-ring, the pump just didn't fit the hole and I had to use a lot of force (hitting with rubber mallet) to get it to go in. The lock ring was pretty easy to get on. Several videos I watch didn't have this problem at all. Go figure. Glad to have the repair done.
Tested and all put back together. Ran it up to the local gas station and put $40 in and it showed about half tank so the fuel float seems to be working as expected as well. Happy to have her back on the road. Thanks again, everyone.
It appears the hole has contracted a bit - not sure how that happens with plastic like that, but the old pump won't fit back in either now due to the hole size. Any suggestions on what now? I tried to use a rubber mallet and a block of wood to gently coax it in but no luck. I wasn't hitting very...

I did move the fuel float indicator to the new part. Visually they look like the same part to me the heights a little bit off but I think that's because I had to beat the crap out of the old one to get it to come out.
