    Ran low on oil

Ooo, sad face. I haven't finished coffee yet so my spidey sense isn't under control yet. The only times (2) I've seen sudden rear main seal 'explosions'- that is, going from not concerning to flood- is when a piston got holed and overpressurizes the crankcase. Pull your plugs, maybe. With oil...

Escalade pulls to the left - Replaced almost everything!

Here in South Florida I'd use that, neutral settings. I see the 2500 has more, presumably because they expect it to tow more and more often. I haven't had my '04 2500XL on a rack, so I can't say where it is. Too bad, I like the way it drives everywhere.

Escalade pulls to the left - Replaced almost everything!

ok, that changes everything; if the vehicle was delivered in a right-drive country, the alignment specs make sense. Driving left, makes no sense. Which side is your steering wheel on? If on the 'American' side, the alignment looks like it would drag you into the ditch. Ask your alignment guy if...

Escalade pulls to the left - Replaced almost everything!

You can't do it safely. The closest you can get is to remove the wheels, pry the pads away from the rotor (both pads) and go around the block without applying the brakes... unless you're in the country, not likely.

    RV Towing

The science goes very deep, desperately so. Adding weight directly over the axles changes moment to the better because it's a lower percentage of total weight. Here's the trick, though; if you'd added the batteries all the way at the back of the trailer, thinking to lighten the tongue and be...

Escalade pulls to the left - Replaced almost everything!

    1. Yes, a rear wheel dragging can cause a pull, especially if the rotor heats up from a sticking caliper. 2. Camber creates a pull, as it turns the tire effectively into a cone, pulling towards the small end. Typically vehicles have camber set to pull left to account for road crown. Yours seems...

    RV Towing

I worked in the RV industry for a few years, installing hitches and mostly chassis work. The two most common issues with towing were both tongue weight lol But seriously, there is never a downside to using a weight distributing hitch, and they're laying in every Facebook marketplace garage for...

    Front end Rebuild

I've always been surprised at the quality of parts from Detroit Axle. Their warranties are usually way better than others'. https://www.detroitaxle.com/parts/2002-chevrolet-suburban-1500

    4wd Issues PLEASE HELP

I wish I was more knowledgeable about the specifics- I have 2 '94s and a '95- but the general diagnostic I'd do would be this; 1. Identify the location of the problem. With the front axle up, engage 4x4, either high or low, and try to spin the front wheels. If they spin without turning the...

    2004 seat height gear repair?

Fam let the interior stay wet before I got it. Rusted the driver seat rear height screw and stripped the gearbox. I see '07-up gears, but found nothing for mine. Any leads?

Performance shops in Indian River/St Lucie county Florida

Unfortunately, the performance herd is thinning. I don't know of any 'regular' hot rod shops that do modern stuff, save the one super high-end shop in the back of the Rio commerce park- they don't advertise and their name is not on google maps. Marty at The Auto Clinic is probably the guy to...

    First post, wiring?

Ok so my inherent laziness wins again. INFO fuse was open, but separated near a leg like a vibration failure, hard to see. All is well now. Hatari!

    First post, wiring?

So while installing the harness for dash cam, found the other end of the harness near the mirror in the headliner. Repaired all the wires, but the rear seat entertainment center doesn't power up. I don't see a dedicated fuse, where to start looking?

    Dual battery set up

A couple anecdotes. My '04 Yukon XL is loaded to the gills- Bose system, Entertainment/monitor, electric everything and Sunroof. It has one Group Size 78 battery, which seems sufficient even cranking the 8.1. Spec'd for 145A generator. In any case, your 'down the highway' usage has to fall...

2002 Tahoe help needed to transport K9 service dog PPV

I've had 2 dogs who have travelled with me literally everywhere. The current one is 9 now. I thought a lot about his safety, and most of our travelling has been in an extended cab pickup though currently the '04 Yukon XL. At the end of the day, balancing possibilities, serevities, water hazards...

    Pirelli Tire upgrade

Our '05 Envoy Denali is on the second set of Pirelli Scorpions. I chose them because they're stiffer and have a higher load rating than others I could find info on at the time, and my priority is in my GF being able to dodge maniacal South Florida drivers (now she's in El Paso, so still applies)...

    Timken SP500301 already bad

When you disassemble it, you'll find a pair of opposed tapered roller bearings, or possibly angular contact ball bearings, with a shim between them. This shim controls bearing to race clearance, and is a critical dimension. Be certain to replace them with an matched set as came out, or have the...

2004 Denali gets hot when parked

You have a significant clue here; that the A/C *and* coolant temperature are both high. These systems are completely unrelated except in one place; Airflow through the grille. You have a bad fan clutch, or a bad fan. What engine is it? My '04 just towed 8k from San Antonio to South Florida in...
