Ok I swapped the two pink wires around that go to the main trans. Harness round plug.
My fuse no longer blows, but my trans is still in limp mode. Any ideas? My shift indicator light still acts funny, it's prob. A crossed wire that goes to the neutral safety switch. Plz somebody chime in,,!!!
While the truck has been down I replaced the evaporator core inside the dash so my ac would work. When I had the dash out I personally expected each wire. The wires in the whole truck are fine. One or two of them might be put back together wrong. Or there might be a component gone bad but no bad...
Yep, it is a pain but this is such a nice truck I don't want to give up on it!

Why does your diagrams keep changing every time I come back to this site? I need that one showing what to test ohms on the round...
Ok there is not any wire that I have not inspected. All wires are in good shape and none of them are grounded. So it only can be either a wire put in backwards or mismatched or one or some of the electronic copoments inside the trans has gone bad. I was told if the main trans elec plug was not...
Ok, I traced one of the two Pink wires coming from the #20 fuse. The pink wire going to the instrument cluster is fine. Any idea where the second pink wire goes so far it goes somewhere under the truck to the trans?
The wiring harness was replaced from back of the transfer case including the o2sensers all the way to the back of the motor. Including the main trans. Harness asmwell as the neutral position switch on the side of the trans. A color coded diagram would be nice.
Mabe one or two of the wires was...
If I put in a new wiring harness, how do I tell which wire goes to what?
There are several wires that are the same color and size.
I think this is what is wrong now, i think there are wires put back together wrong.
How would I go about narrowing down what wire is wrong?
Could something...
What is the shiny box with two sets of wires going to it? Behind the dash or in the dash so to say. Its next to the steering column. Looks likemsome kind of module or computer or something.
2nd Question: if my truck was driven with the main transmission wiring harness and part of the nuetral...
So if I'm able to shift out of park without applying the brake, this means that this part is bad right.? And also yes any diagrams you have would be greatly appreciated.
Let me clarify this. First issue: The truck will only start if I jump a wire from under the dash, just behind the ignition switch wiring harness. To under the hood to the starter relay. If I don't jump the wire when I try to start it I move the key to the on position everything works as it...
I don't know that the old ignition switch is bad or not I just replaced bc it seemed the right thing to do and I had one on hand and the truck was already taken apart
Yes gear indicator only comes on when key is in start mode, not on mode. I will inspect the power block today.

I took the truck to the mechanic bc trans went out. I'm using a trans out of a wrecked one. That...
If I am jumping a wire from the back of the ignition switch harness to the starter relay...
Wouldnt be something in-between those two points.
Plz correct me if I'm wrong.
I could start it this way but since I just replaced the ignition switch so I don't want to do it this way, I do not want to...
When I put the key in and put it in the on position everything works as it should, except
The shift indicator light is off. When I try to start it the shift indicator light comes on but nothing happens. When I let off the key from start to on position. The shift indicator light goes back off.
Ok I put new fuse in and removed the cluster and same result. Does not even turn over. As far as the wires being pinched or burnt I replaced the entire wiring harness from the t-case all the way to the back of the motor. I had an extra harness from the wrecked Yukon I bought. Any other ideas you...
Ok I got my truck back from the shade tree mechanic, thought I would
Save a few bucks and do not have a lift. look at me now.
It's a 1998 gmc Yukon 4x4 5.7 liter.
Got it back from a transmission replacement. He said come and get it he was
Tired of fooling with it.
Trans. Was in but it...
