High RPM while Light Towing & Upgrade Transmission?

Agreed. 80 mph is usually reserved for the high planes of western Colorado and eastern Utah where the speed limit is 80. I know this does not mean you must drive 80 or so. The problem is during an assent if momentum is not kept, speed drops fast and RPMs increase drastically. I am not used...

High RPM while Light Towing & Upgrade Transmission?

Towing weight is light. Maybe 1,500 lbs with the fully loaded 150 qt cooler. On day trips with limited gear and ice, 1,20 lbs at the most. These include the trailer at about 850 lbs.

High RPM while Light Towing & Upgrade Transmission?

Thanks. I have the 3.73 but with such a light weight, how much is it affecting the engine and transmission on flat roads? I also thought I read something that the tow mode only activates when you are at 75% or so of max capactity. Can you elaborate ont eh "change Both ASAP? Change what...

High RPM while Light Towing & Upgrade Transmission?

Hi everyone. I purchased a raft last year and I have a question about towing. As you will see from my question, I am inexperienced in this area. We live near Denver and head to western Colorado and Utah frequently. Because of this, we go up and over a lot of steep, long inclines on I-70 and...

Burning Smell Outside and Middle of Yukon

Sorry, I missed the "Not" past of the statement. I have NOT noticed the smell again. My guess it was some antifreeze or othe fluid from the exhaust or another part.

Burning Smell Outside and Middle of Yukon

Quick update. I have not been on a long-distance drive since this post, however, just some 30 min type around town driving has not reproduced the smell. Crossing my fingers it was some antifreeze or other substance that burned off.

Thank you everyone for the safety reminders and the suggestions. I will look at the exhaust system and see what I find. Thank you

Burning Smell Outside and Middle of Yukon

My 2008, 130,000 miles, is producing a slight burning-like smell. The strange to me part is it is not noticeable to me from the engine area but in the middle of the rig. I did have the radiator flushed the other day, along with new upper and lower control arms on both front sides. The...

    Buyer Beware - Don't Buy a Yukon

Unfortunately, Dodge/Jeep (what ever they call themselves now) and Ford are all having their own issues. My buddies 2020 F 150 needs a new cam phaser at $7,500.

Is it possible to keep truck too long?

Great timing. I have been looking at different options if my 2008 (original owner) 130,000 miles needs a major repair. I have been thinking about a truck and looking at F 150 and Sierra's. We purchased a raft last year and tow 300+ miles a half dozen times a year. The trailer and gear are...

    Tail Light Replacement Bulb Issue

Sorry for the last reply. The brake light is the top of the three lights. The top two are the same bulb it appears.

    Tail Light Replacement Bulb Issue

I need to replace the OEM left brake light bulb on my '08 Yukon. According to Autozone and Sylvania's website, this is the 3057 replacement. Unfortunately, when I tried to replace the bulb tonight, it did not work. The glass is much too large and the receptor thingy is different...

    Power Mirror Motor Assembly

Hi everyone I purchased the GruvenParts power motor and gears a year ago or so for both side mirrors. The driver-side works great, however, I have not been able to successfully reassemble the passenger-side motor and have given up. I have tried a few times but I am, apparently, not assembling...

New Aftermarket Shocks or OEM Z71's?

I installed the 5100's back in November. If no one told me the socks were swapped out, I would have no idea.

I assume you mean manually shift in the D3 gear and head up the hills in that mode? Thank you!!!

    Noise When Towing

After a few trips up to the mountains, i need to punch it in the 5,000 rpm range sometimes to keep momentum. I try not to keep it at this level for more than 10 to 20 seconds at a time as the engine is roaring at this point. I wish this had a few more gears. The transmission shifting from...

    Noise When Towing

Sorry, have not be on the forum for a while. After a few trips, I believe the issue is when downshifting to 2nd and 3rd gear for 10 miles. We always stop at the same place for a nature break and after the car sits for a few minutes, the noise goes away.

    Bilstein 5100 Review

Yes, I had them order through their supplier. I figured I could have saved a few bucks but then if there was an issue with a part, I did not want to deal with being the middle man.

    Noise When Towing

Thanks for this. I typically do not push the engine to this level, at least not for longer than a few seconds to get her into the next gear on a steep climb. It did make me very nervous.

    Bilstein 5100 Review

Because I did not want to do the installation myself, I found a local 4x4 shop that specialized in suspensions, jeeps, etc.

    Bilstein 5100 Review

I everyone. I thought I would write up a quick review of my experience so far after upgrading all four shocks to the Bilstein 5100's. I had a shop do this for me as I am not mechanically inclined. If I were just replacing the rear shocks, I might have attempted on my own however I did not...

    Noise When Towing

I changed all the differential, transmission, and transfer cases fluids about 10 months ago, which equated to not a lot of miles. I bet not more than 8,000. This is typically the mountain/travel vehicle. I was curious as to going uphill for 50 or so miles if that put some undo stress on...

    Noise When Towing

Yes, through the Eisenhower Tunnel. At the bottom of the pass we stopped in Silverthorn to meet up with everyone and this is where I first noticed the noise. I will look into the power steering and AC compressor. Thanks.
