Noise front left in 4wd - CV?

No.. I had forgotten about it because it was summer and have not used it for a while. I will most likely hear about again soon.

    Castrol GTX 20W50

I expect to catch some crap about this post but here goes anyway. I have 11 quarts of Castro GTx 20W50. I also have a 2006 Chevy Tahoe with 167,000 miles and pretty rusty. The vehicle that I originally bought the Castrol for has been sold. Is there any problem using this oil in the Tahoe? This...

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

Yes, I swapped the AC relay with the horn relay and it did not solve the problem.

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

Sorry for the delay, I am finally getting back to this problem. Yes, It is for sure that the AC stayed on before the it quit cooling for good. I have always used it in manual mode, if you read above, I did not know the auto even existed. I put it on dash vent, and used the snowflake button...

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

Let me ask you this. When the clutch is engaged, does the very center of the compressor turn or is the clutch rotating around the center of the compressor? Looking at the compressor, a half inch or so of the face is turning with the pulley, the center is not. Does this mean the clutch is not...

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

I also found the Auto Button. I put it in Auto and now cannot turn it off :( Does that kind of confirm the control being bad? Thanks.. Gary

I will try the stick, it reminds me of the hammer to the starter fix :)

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

Ok. Power to the clutch is possible. But as explained, the problem began as a properly working ac. Then turning off the snowflake button did not stop the cooling. Then when it did turn off, it would not turn back on. Period. I first though of controls, swapped relays with the horn and no...

    AC Not working, help troubleshoot.

I don't know if mine has climate control or not. I will look at the controls tonight. It has dual controls driver/passenger, temperature, but I am not sure if it actually controls it automatically

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

I figured that if the nut in the center of the compressor was not turning that the clutch was not engaged. Isn't the center hub of the compressor what turns the compresses ?

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

I'm sorry about that. For some reason when I made the post, I couldn't see but one category.

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

So if I check continuity on a bad pressure switch it will be open? Thanks for the info.

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

Yes the belt is on and the outer pulley on the compressor is turning.

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

I was not sure if it was ok to do that, but I thought of it. The accumulator is on the passenger side of the dash correct? I pulled the connector while the truck was running and nothing changed. There was also a switch located near the compressor, I did not mess with that one.

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

If it can be auto engaged, I have no idea. I have always used it in manal mode.

2006 Tahoe/AC charged but Compressor not turning

I ran the AC in my 2006 Tahoe Z71 4wd yesterday to cool down the car, when I turned the system off the AC still blew cold air. I turned the AC button on and off a few times and it finally made a long fading squeak and the the cooling shut off. The AC icon shows on the HVAC panel when the button...

    Timken Front Wheel Hub 4wd

I normally buy Timken wheel hubs for my vehicles. They are American made and I have found that they last better than most. No one seems to have these bearings in stock for my 4 wheel drive 2006 Tahoe and I'm looking for another choice in a durable wheel bearing. I would also take the...

Noise front left in 4wd - CV?

Ok. I like the wheel bearing theory, because it sounds like every wheel bearing failure I have ever had. My Big Ole truck is in the shop and is supposed to be home soon. As soon as it gets here, I will idle the Tahoe and do some testing. I will make sure to post again when I get to that point...

Noise front left in 4wd - CV?

No, it is for sure a growl. It could be the transfer case, but it sure sounds like it is in the left front. I'd think it was wheel bearing if it happened in 2wd also.

Noise front left in 4wd - CV?

I have a growling droning type noise in the left front only in 4WD. No noise in 2WD. Noise does not increase during turns. I am guessing CV joint? Thanks... Gary
